#338 Tales of Great Heroes 19

from 克萊兒説文法 · host 老克

Tales of Great Heroes 19 Northern giants captured Helio's cows with horns of gold and carry them off for food. Alcyoneus was the King of giants. As long as he stayed in the land of Phlegra, he was immortal. Alcyoneus told giants one of them should have Aphrodite to be his wife, another Artemis, and he should have Hera. Hercules wrestled Alcyoneus out of Phlegra and clubbed the giant king to death. All the giants fled except Ephialtes and Otus. The two put Mount Ossa on top of Mount Pelion and started climbing up towards Heaven. Ephialtes boasted Hera would be his prize and Otus Artemis. Zeus sent them message that the stronger of the two would have Artemis as a prize. Artemis turned into a white deer and ran amok between the two giants. The two giants threw weapon at the white deer and missed and hit each other in the heart. Some giant was caught by Poseidon, who broke a piece of Cos and buried the giant under it. Rock of Nisyros is the place you can still see the rock today. The last of the last giants was Enceladus, who rushed away but caught by Athena, who locked him under great Mount Vesuvius. Upon returning to Greece, Hercules rested at Nestor's home to recover his strength. He then attacked Sparta then returned to Trachis with a young pricess Iole, who was to be the wife for his son Hyllus. On their way to Trachis, Hercules wanted to pray to Zeus. He sent a messenger home to fetch his praying cloak. Messenger misled Deianira by mentioning Iole, whom Deianira thought Hercules wanted for his own. Deianira put a magic liquid on Hercules's cloak, which would make him love her again. Deianira realized only too late that the potion was actually a burning poison. Hercules was burnt badly and crawled his way to Mount Oeta where he fell down. Hyllus came to give the tiding that Deianira had killed herself because she used the poison. Hercules then climbed onto the heap of wood and asked Hyllus to set the fire and go home to marry Iole. Hyllus couldn't bear setting fire to his own father. He asked Philoctetes, son of Poeas, to do it. Hercules gave Philoctetes his bow and arrows saying without these arrows the city or Troy could never be invaded by humans. Philoctetes set fire crying. Hercules ascended to Heaven and welcomed by Zeus and Hera, who gave her daughter Hebe to be Hercules's wife on Olympus. Hercules's mother Alcmena died of sorrow upon hearing Hercules's death. Hermes stole her body and took her to live happily in Elysian Fields. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
