高祖兴汉业建至孝平王莽篡光武兴为东汉四百年终于献解读汉高祖刘邦在沛县起兵，最后建立了汉朝基业，都城在长安。到孝平帝元始五年，外戚王莽专权，以毒酒害死平帝，让孺子婴即位，仿周公摄政，自号“摄皇帝”。三年后，去“摄”字称帝，改国号为“新”，废孺子婴为定安公。汉光武帝刘秀起兵消灭了王莽，光复汉室，被称为东汉。东汉延续了四百年，最后结束于献帝。
