Rapper A Star joins Tobi Rachel of Yellow Cup Podcast to discuss his experience with sickle cell, why it is important for black people to not only give blood but to get tested before having children. The rapper, who just released his new album Born & Raised, opens up on his struggles with porn and feeling resentment towards his parents. The disease is caused by a faulty gene passed on from parent to child and is not contagious. Health officials are urging more black people to give blood, to meet a growing demand for a special subtype of blood. The condition is particularly common amongst black people.
