Als aber alle in der deutschen Bibel nachlesen konnten, was dort steht, führte dieses nur kurzfristig zu mehr Einheit. Bereits zur Zeit der Reformation wurde deutlich, dass je nach Zuordnung sowohl von \"Geist\" und \"Buchstabe\" als auch Altem und Neuem Testament unterschiedliche theologische Ansichten vertreten wurden.
