#349: Eliza Sampey -- "No Going Back", Severe Injury to Self Love to Bikepacking FKT

from Like a Bigfoot · host Chris Ward

This week we are chatting with bikepacker, adventurer, and "pro mountain shuffler" Eliza Sampey! Eliza recently set the FKT at the self supported GCOR bikepacking race through the Olympic mountains. It took her an incredibly fast 3 days, 5 hours, 13 minutes to travel the 450 miles. But in reality this accomplishment took much, much longer to achieve. 33 months ago Eliza had a terrible fall on her mountain bike and sustained a traumatic brain injury. It's taken months of intentional recovery, adjustment, and learning to love her new brain to get to this point. Along the way she has had to practice patience, battle frustration, and take "two steps forward and ten steps back". This episode is about true perseverance and self love. You will learn so much about processing new situations in life from this wonderful human being! I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!! (Photo By the Amazing Eszter Horanyi!!)
