35: Blindspotting the Venom of 2018

from Cinema To The Letter · host Cinema To The Letter

Happy New Year! As we ring in 2019, it's still important to look back a bit at 2018. Specifically, the great and not-so-great films of the year. Adam Thomas and Thomas Mariani are joined by returning guest Yonathan Habtemichael to discuss two notable films from the year on the latest Double Edged Double Bill. Our good feature is the underrated indie dramedy Blindspotting and the other is the mega hit Marvel blockbuster Venom. Very different films with more similarities than you'd think. Both take place in Northern California, both deal with protagonists suppressed by systems outside of their control and both focus on the duality of man. However, Blindspotting doesn't have Daveed Diggs bite into a live lobster and Venom doesn't feature Tom Hardy freestyling. Still, there's plenty of parallels to draw while our trio discusses other hits & misses of the year and picks their double feature for next week. Listen now to find out!
