What this episode covers
It is a universal reality—we humans do not have a good grasp of what it takes to live in peace with each other. ‘Friendly fire’ occurs when people who are mistakenly identified and attacked as the enemy though they are not. It is not limited to the battlefield and there is certainly nothing 'friendly' about it! It happens way too often that people whom God recognizes as His own become the victims of fellow believers. They are viewed and treated as if they are the enemy-as if they are the devil incarnate. Our spiritual warfare is to be carried on against the real enemy whom Paul in his letter to the Ephesians identifies as satan. Is it possible to target satan without also targeting his victims? Is there any way to distinguish and separate the two? Putting on the mind of Christ seems to be a key element in successfully opposing satan and his schemes without also being guilty of ‘friendly fire‘ on those for whom Christ died. Scripture references; Romans 3:17, 1 Timothy 6:12, Ephesians 6:10-18, 1 Peter 5:8-9. Jude 22- 23, John 16:l-2, Mark 9:38-41, James l:20. Ephesians 6:10-18, Hebrews 4:12-I3, Colossians 4:6, II Corinthians 10:3-6, Philippians 2:1-5, Luke 6:31 and Isaiah 2:3-5.
