#35: Growing Up In The 1960's A Disability Rights Advocate Tells Her Story Part 1
from The blind side · host BMG
In this episode of The Blind Side, disability rights advocate Robin Rider-Osbourne tells her story of what it was like growing up in the 1960's with family members who have disabilities. She discusses the treatment that her siblings recieved as well as discusses legislation that is being filed to stop the restraint and seclusion of individuals with disabilities. She also gives a brief history of subminimum wage and how it impacted people with disabilities in the 1930's and how it still effects people with disabilities today. I briefly give a synopsis of how subminimum wage effected me and, both Robin and I urge listeners to talk with their legislators and advocate for the end of seclusion and restraint as well as the end of subminimum wage for people with disabilities.
