He has worked as a research geophysicist at ARCO, Mobil, Phillips Petroleum, and as a Senior Scientist at ConocoPhillips. His career interests have ranged from wave propagation, inverse problems and applied geophysics. He also taught as an adjunct Professor in the physics department at the University of Houston and served as vice-chairman of the Ultra-Deepwater Advisory Committee for the U.S. Department of Energy.
