from Keep it Aloha · host Kamaka Dias

Keith Amemiya is a community and business leader from the island of Oʻahu. He is the executive director of the Central Pacific Bank Foundation, former vice president of Island Holdings Inc. and previously was the head of the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association for 12 years. He helped transform youth sports in Hawaiʻi, and when state budget cuts threatened to end junior varsity athletics, he led the “save our sports” campaign raising over $1.5 million in three months and keeping youth sports alive in Hawaiʻi.  He is also a husband of 26 years and father to one son. In 2020 he ran as a first time candidate in the Honolulu Mayor Election and just fell short to current Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. Today he is now running as a Democrat for Lieutenant Governor of Hawaiʻi and hopes to bring some good positive change to the islands. In this episode we talk about how he was adopted by his best friendʻs family in high school, his time at the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association, affordable housing in Hawaiʻi and term limits, what he plans to do as Lt. Governor, and so much more.
