35 - Nope (Patron-requested) (TEASER)

In this Patron-exclusive episode (thanks, Gary!), we review Jordan Peele’s noir-western alien horror film Nope. As we huddle under an umbrella protecting us from a downpour of blood and metal objects, we discuss everything from performances and special effects to character development and possible plot holes. While not a perfect film by any means, we all come with positive things to say about this one — and plenty of jokes, too. There’s a lot to unpack in this movie as we explore themes of spectacle, exploitation, and trauma. Plus, we delve into how the chimpanzee massacre storyline ties into the rest of the movie, and why it’s not a good idea to compare yourself to horses. Listen now for an entertaining exploration of a rare treat — a well-done Hollywood film that isn’t just “content.” Nope is a 2022 sci-fi horror film written, directed, and produced by Jordan Peele. It stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Michael Wincott, and Brandon Perea. Have a movie you want us to watch?
