I was hoping perhaps you would sing me a girl put your windscreen on tune. I mean I can please. I will in a second. Okay the girl that was in the room with me just left so now I can sing.
Girl put your windscreen on. Protect the sound quality. Make it legible. Good, good, good.
It's like having podcasts. It's not even music to say. Hi Amanda. Hi Abigail.
What's up? I am dog sitting and I tried to find out which room in this house might be the best for recording. And I chose this room that I'm in and I don't know if you can see. But I figured the wall mural of stuffed animals might help pad the sound.
I'm a bit of a sound engineer so at this point. Please enjoy. I am enjoying when I'm not being haunted in my dreams by those tiny animals. The homeowner was like it's your pick like which of the gas rooms you want to sleep in which last time I was here that she was it was not like I did not have a choice.
There was like one room specifically. So then after she left today I like to take a tour and decide and I walked into this room the room I hadn't seen last time I was here and I was like well not going in here. Ever again. Can you imagine sleeping in that little twin bed with all of those stuffed dolls covering above you?
It feels like a plot point in a movie that has Owen Wilson in it like 10 years ago. So what's new with you? I'm an Iceland. Iceland the country?
Iceland the country. The place. What a surprise. It is surprising.
It was surprising to me too. It's pretty okay so far. I like it. I feel like I got the gist of it a little bit so far.
The city, the main city center I would say. The city center of Iceland? Of Reykjavik. Yeah the capital city.
I feel like with one day walking around you're like okay I get this. So one of my goals for tonight or early early? Yes. One of my goals for tonight or early tomorrow morning is to figure out if there's a way I can get out of us out of the city and go see something else.
We'll see. Probably. Probably. Iceland has good tourism opportunities from when I've learned from all my travel podcasts I listen to.
It does except they are pricey. Oh yes. It's rich. It's hard.
Yeah when I was researching if we will go to Iceland this year I was surprised to learn that like the conversion rate isn't great. And I was like oh man. It's like one to one at this point. Like everything which makes it really easy to figure out if you can afford something or not you're like 24,000 isk.
Okay that means it's 24 dollars. Nope can't afford that. So it's pretty easy. Interesting.
When I read it it was worse than that. It was like I don't remember it was but and it was like keeps getting more expensive. It was it was similar to like the UK which is almost double. Though I guess you can get any better too.
So compared to when I was there. When everything was a million dollars. Well when I was I went to London two years in a row and the first year it really was two to one. So like everything was everything was a million dollars.
It was twice as expensive. But then the next year I went it was down to like 1.7 and the euro at that time was 1.5. So this is very fascinating. Well I'm sure everyone loves some freakinomics if it were.
Currency talk. Currency chat. CC. I've been having a really cool experience though wandering around the city which I want to brag about for every time someone speaks to me first like per se a shopkeeper or a waiter or something they address me in Icelandic and I think it's because I look Icelandic and so they assume that I am one of them.
It's your it's your new rikovic. Your Norse genetics. Yeah it's my giant eyes and my confused look on my face and my white skin. It's perfect.
Yeah I think I mean I think those of us with the northern European looks as it were probably could get by. I mean it's like going to England and people assume you're British and then you speak and they're like oh you're an American. And then you know one said that here they're just like they all of a sudden turn it like oh all right I see what's happening here. Oh yeah probably the difference between your experience and my experience is yours is about shopping or some of mine's about men hitting on me at bars.
The only thing I like discussing about Europe. Well I haven't experienced that yet. The magic. Mm hmm.
I did just have a grocery store experience because I heard breakfast here was 800 isk and I was like no thank you I'm not going to be spending that much money. When you say breakfast here do you mean breakfast in the country or like breakfast at the restaurant that you're living at? The restaurant also known as a hostel yes the restaurant hostel experience I'm living at is 800 isk in the morning and I said no no so I waltzed myself over to me. What is that like a dollar street store?
Yeah eight dollars. But eight dollars a day adds up you know. Oh yeah I wasn't I wasn't disagreeing with the choice you made to go to the grocery store. Yes so the grocery store I went to which I imagine would be something like an Aldi maybe.
A good excuse to get some bagels if ever there was. Yes for sure I was looking for some bagels. I thought it was going to be like a full fledged trader Joe's type experience something like that. And no it was like a little corner market and it's the only grocery store for miles around currently and we'll do some research on that tonight.
But anyway so I wanted around the store for a while and then the shop owner of a procheman spoke to me in Icelandic being like I'm sure are you shoplifting or something of the sort. And I was like racial professional smiling. Right. Well I did have my hands in my pockets and wanted around the store about 20 times like just looking at everything.
I do that a lot in my like yeah trailer life I like to just go into stores and assess what is nearby and everyone's always like can I help you can I help you and I'm like I'm just a hobo here to steal these nails right. Oh I took a picture of someone who's like your your version like it's you and Iceland basically like it's like Ferebi in Iceland. It's pretty funny. I want to say that.
Yeah I'll text it to you. Oh so the shop owner was like can I help you and I was like but in Icelandic and I was like oh I'm just looking and she was like oh okay yeah you're just experiencing everything on I was like yeah just looking at everything and taking it all in. She gets a lot to take in. And so then I said do you sell any wine and she looked shocked and she was like it is after 8 p.m.
No we can only sell 0.2% beer and that is only you know at a shop not here. Right. Like she was like you know they're trying to change the laws but there's a concern that people will become alcoholic so something to think about I don't think so but you know something to think about I was like yeah wow okay cool. So then I got some milk and some Cheerios and some yogurt and went up to the front and she pushed the Cheerios and the milk together on the counter smiling and looked up at me and said these go together very well and I recipe recommendations literally creating cooking.
I want to be like have you heard of pellet life like you're inventing cooking right now. But yeah it was just so funny because she was totally genuine like oh these two things they really go together nicely. I was like cereal and milk yeah time-honored tradition throw away from America I know. We invented this trash okay.
Yeah so that was pretty fun. I heard an Iceland history story on the dollop which is a history podcast by comedians and they were in Iceland for a benefit show and they had a local comedian like on stage with them to like back check slash you know make some jokes. Sure. And there was a story about how one time like the US was like had a base there or had some sort of like occupation like there was some like thing where the United States military like was in Iceland for an extended period of time and basically this guy was like yeah when I was a kid it was really exciting like the Americans came and we were like you know very into it and I mean the best part was there was a Wendy's and the American guys who are like the guys who hosted all the podcast they were like yeah that's typical American what do we do what do we bring to other countries?
Fast food disgusting fast food. Oh yeah today when I was on the bus driving in from the airport I was like oh look a Taco Bell and I can't see together like they have everything here. Yeah footprint. So what do you have planned for your trip?
I'm going to the Blue Lagoon on Monday which is a very famous you know large body of blue water yeah so that'll be fun I'm gonna get there like the first time they let you go inside and I'm just gonna stay there all day and make myself a prune just hanging out the water. Oh do you swim in it is it like some sort of like spa experience? Yeah it's like naturally heated geothermal spas and then they have this like mud mask stuff. What else?
So I guess the first impressions of Iceland would be that it's very the week that I'm here anyway it's cold and grain rainy and it's like 35 degrees outside. No way in a country called Iceland. I know and it's been snowing a little bit too and it's really cold and I don't really have the right gear to be here I've decided like I have like my sweater and like a green jacket and I'm like we'll see how this goes. I've just resigned myself to being cold and like not really complaining about it just like that's just what's gonna happen little friend if you don't buy the right gear you're just gonna be cold.
Indeed. But yes today so far I we got here at like 130 we say me and my fellow plane travelers I guess I don't have anyone here with me. Yeah I hear at 130 took the bus from the airport to the hostel and then I wandered into town which looked far away but actually was like a five minute walk and I was like oh everyone's reports of like it being far are greatly exaggerated. Yeah like walking always like people in parking lots complaining about getting a close spot and you're like but it's walking yeah no it seemed very silly because I was like oh that's the tallest building I can see the tallest building from here I'm just gonna walk towards that.
Ten minutes later I'm standing in front of it and I was like oh well this is gonna be a short trip around Reykjavik so I basically think maybe like if I spend another day I could probably walk everywhere there is to walk in the entire greater city. It's still very cam girl. Sorry it's my let me paint a picture listeners. Have a gail just till like lean back against this twin bed suggestively I would say and tilt it the camera more towards her and it definitely feels like this is something I'm paying for.
It does not feel great. No I've been having like stuffed animals and stuff. God that would be the weirdest fetish. Oh I don't even want to think about it.
No I've been having all these weird neck problems lately and so like I don't know what we've been recording for like ten minutes and I could already feel it's starting to happen so I was like I need to readjust my position so I'm not hunched over this computer even though I like try to set up a little stand for it out of a wicker hamper and everything but then I thought like oh I'm now I'm really far away maybe she can't see me so I rotated the computer. Sorry. No you did a good thing it's just you know just funny. Also I'm wearing a bikini so that probably adds to the general ambiance.
I went to a couple of the best bars in Reykjavik on all the top lists or whatever and had some happy hour drink. It was fun I brought my book with me so I could do some reading but I'm almost done with my book so I hear something happened to your book. It got wet. You had to use it in the bathroom?
Maybe hang on never mind teaser for your joke life moment. Okay yeah good memory. Literally that's how I knew you were like safely in Iceland. Because the joke life moment was occurring to me.
Yes because I was being reported. Yeah the joke life moments were being reported. So I really want to go hiking at this one place but I think it might be kind of far away so I'm trying to figure out what I can actually do. There's also something called City Pass which you can buy it's like 50 bucks for three days basically and you can go anywhere in the city and go to all the swimming pools in the city all the heated swimming pools and all the museums and all kinds of stuff so.
Yeah those things are cool. Maybe I'll do that. Yeah I kind of would rather like drive around the country but I think that that's too expensive for this trip so what's on your mind you seem distracted. Oh I keep it.
Well you want to see what I'm looking at? Sure. I came across this as I was prepping for the podcast. I'm a little distracted because of my neck I'm just trying to get I keep changing positions to figure out how to but I found this puzzle.
Oh god. So it's a 550 feet jigsaw puzzle of three cats in top hats singing with little scarves on it's snow. They're carolines. It says meow to the world.
Technically it says meow the two worlds but you know who am I a judge? Yeah it was purchased for three dollars at some sort of garage sale. I think I'll be making it later tonight. Oh it's important man.
So yeah that's like it's sitting right next to the computer. So I keep being distracted by the caroline kittens. I have some billboard rage. Oh lay it on me.
So I actually saw this last month and totally forgot to mention it to you. I saw this in Northern California. It was actually like technically San Francisco Bay Area where you'd think their standards maybe are a little higher. I would imagine it's really sensitive to get a billboard so they should be good billboards.
And it is just like a plain yellow background and we've got a guy who looks like a dad or like a dad verging on grandpa. A baby boomer if you will. Holding like piles of money in his hands and he's got a face of just like kind of surprise and delight. Like ha ha ha.
Kind of like maybe someone who just won Wheel of Fortune. And the caption in like aerial font in all big letters says David one big destination winning. And then there's a small logo for a casino. Okay.
So I get that it's a billboard. Yeah. That's it. What the hell.
I get that it's a billboard for casino and that they're saying like come to Arcasino and do some of the gambling and you too will have piles of money like David. And I think maybe David's a real winner. Like I think maybe they probably have some sort of campaign or like anyone who wins big gets to be on the billboard. But I don't understand destination winning.
That's like someone who doesn't understand he's hashtags using hashtags. I mean if it was a hashtag at least I'd be like oh they're trying to make that hashtag happen. Okay. Anyway, snap to pick up that.
I saw okay I have two things to add one we got tagged in a comment by Amy Cannon on Facebook. Just know about Bill. No while ago about billboards. Apparently there's some artists that all along the 10 free way has been painting billboards to match the scenery behind it.
So that like the other one would say yeah exactly it's supposed to be like the exact same because they do a really good job of it. And then I also saw an ad but someone had drawn on it which is pretty good. But the headline so there's two people there's a man and a woman and the man was doing like a piece sign with his two fingers. He's like holding it towards the camera like piece exactly.
And above them it says finally the ultimate solution to for gray hair. And it's some sort of like hair dye product or whatever. But someone had drawn blood dripping off his fingers and then like he had gouged her eyes out which I thought was really funny with the headline. The ultimate solution for gray hair to like poke someone's eyes out so they get to your hair.
So you don't have to see it. Yep. But I thought it was pretty good. But yeah.
No one else in my hostel is in their bedroom yet or like going to sleep yet. I'm in a four percent room and I feel like they're all out having fun without me. Like I'm missing out somehow and they're all just hanging out and having fun. Like they didn't invite you.
Like they know about some cool party for travelers and you don't know about it. Yeah. It's okay though. I mean I should go to bed soon.
It's like 10 p.m. here. Oh yeah. You've done a good job of accomming into the time you've changed then.
I'm tired all the time. So if you told me three hours ago to go to bed I would have been like sure. You know I wouldn't let you go to bed in real life. I would have made you stay up till at least 10.
Yeah. Those are my rules. Which I did. Well I kind of feel like going downstairs and trolling and seeing things around you know.
There's all kinds of people hanging out in the common area which is like a really cool looking bar. But also I have a bunch of other days to do that. So I can just go to bed and have a nice sleepy time. A nice sleepy time.
I'm just waiting for this girl. So this girl is even tomorrow I guess. I'm just waiting for her to leave so I can steal her with a lot of bunk you know. I'm going to swoop right in.
Have you talked for about it? Are you like waking up when you're leaving? No checkouts at 10 and then check in time is not until three so I've got me a couple hours to do my swooping. But don't you feel like there might be other people who are going to swoop or plotting a swoop?
No I'm the only person at the top bunk. There's no other there's no other there's super. This is a swoop for you know. Oh I see.
So it really doesn't require much. Also I haven't seen this person. She's about a figment of my imagination. Dude they have this candy here that I ate and it's called tonics.
And it's called tonics milk chocolate coated caramel wafer biscuits and I think it's English. And when you yeah oh Scotland here we go. And when you open it up it says more than five million of these biscuits made and sold every week. Five million of these little dumb candy bars made and sold every week.
That's what I think about man. I don't know. I feel super. Probably I don't know is another candy that way.
Anytime a number is large. I actually don't know much about candy. Right anytime a number is large my brain like has like doesn't even like get any sort of surprise about it because I'm like numbers big. Question mark.
Like our Etsy sales for the month. But the shopkeeper I was very concerned with picking the right caramel candy I'm sure you've met me before and I was like is that a good one is it really good and she was like looking at me with just like a blank stare she was like yeah. Is this the same person that was giving you recipe tips on cereal? Yeah.
Sure. Yeah. It's good. Like but I felt like she was lying to me.
You know I mean it's delicious she wasn't lying to me but she acted so Katie about it. She wasn't giving you the full consultation you were looking for. No. Hey do you want to play a little this or that?
Sure. Can I also tell you something I just noticed about this chest of drawers in this room. They didn't put the right they put the top shelf into the where the bottom the middle shelf should be and I feel like I want to fix it if someone came in it would look like I was like going through their chest of doors. Well you could check to see their stuff in it.
And then steal it. Good. Yes. I doubt it's a value otherwise it'd be locked up.
Yeah. This place has actually got a really good system for everything. I've been very impressed with it so far. Even though I read a bunch of negative y'all reviews about how it was dirty and horrible and terrible.
It's been really clean and super nice. I'm surprised. Well that is good to know. I know.
Hang on I'm finding a semester of that question. I have one of my regular dog sitting clients they want to book me for a couple weeks in December and it's like totally stressing me out because I'm like that is too long away I cannot like make any sort of commitments about any part of my life that far away. It feels really stressful. And they're like wait what's happening in December?
These people want me to commit to dog sitting for them and it feels like a way too much. I'll book something that far out. Yeah that's so far away. Who knows?
I mean I get that they are planning their trip. Like it makes sense like apparently people do things like that. But I'm like dude I don't even know what June looks like and I don't care. Like I'll figure it out when I get there.
And I don't want so I think I'm just going to have to say no. Right. Because December is like years away at this point. Right.
But I feel bad. What's going to feel bad doesn't matter? I know. I just like I really like them and I love their dog and I love their house.
It's like I love it. Well if they want to lock you in. Well I kind of want to be like give me a thousand dollars a month for something to lock you in for December. Right.
Like I would do it if I paid enough to like fly to go do it and then fly because I might be like yeah I want to take therapy somewhere else. Like I'm not going to come back. I'm not going to bring therapy back anyway. Right.
Oh this website has rules. It's also amazing for getting to know each other in a fun way. So you never have to deal with the awkward moments. Entertainment is the category we're going to do.
Okay. And do you want to answer for me and I'll answer for you. Oh yeah. You want basically to say something that I'll say if they're for you or not.
Sure. And then I'll say something and I'll say if they're for you or not. Yes. These are the best of that questions because you can find out who you would most likely hang out with out of all the people playing the game.
You'll find out who is the same interests as you and it's a perfect way to ask someone to hang out to. There's only two of us. So. Yeah.
Okay. A aerobic exercise or yoga? Yoga. Yeah.
Everyone lazy loves yoga would never choose a aerobic exercise. Right. Like one of the main things about yoga is like laying on the floor. Right.
And sometimes in yoga when you're like when you start sweating a lot and your heart rate and you're like what is this about? Like this is not what I signed up for. Arctic or the tropics. Tropics.
You love the sun. Yeah. Sunbathing is your favorite activity. You play in my told you.
Yes. Like I was like laying out in the sun listening to a podcast and you're like I'm ready to record and I was like but the sun. Yep. Another reason why I like yoga.
It's basically sunbathing. Art festivals or music festivals? Music festivals. What's an art festival?
I don't know. I've never heard of that. Does it seem real? I mean maybe it is.
I'm in Laguna Beach. No. It is. Yeah.
My parents go to them all the time now that I think about it. Like the Leukemia Arts Festival they literally go all the time. Yeah. No.
I want a music festival. I want lots and lots of... I know you do. Lots and lots of bands.
Reasons to complain. It is. Bands, boys. Yes.
That is like those are some of my interests you might say. That would be Amazon March shirt. Bands, boys. Yeah.
It would be. Football or baseball? I feel like you would rather watch football but it's hard to say. False.
So. Really? I feel like I've never seen you watch baseball. Okay.
First of all, have you seen any sports? You can't say it's one of your sports. You have so many sports. Okay.
I mean the sports I don't care about. Which is all of them. There is a hierarchy. And there's the ones where I'm like, oh if I cared about sports, these are the ones I would care about.
Baseball is one of the ones I would care about. My brother played baseball my whole childhood. And so I spent like during baseball season, I spent like four nights a week watching baseball games. Plus I'm from Chicago and we care about baseball.
I don't know if you heard, but it's one last year. It's kind of a big deal. Sure. And no one, and yeah, no one, like no one in my family was ever in football.
None of my friends were in football. I like, I've played football. I played football. I played football in high school and gym class and it was fun.
But I also have a lot of ethical feelings about how football is bad. It is bad. So. Down with football.
Baseball or basketball? Basketball. Good job. That is my other sport of my two sports.
Mm hmm. Play sports or watch sports? Watch sports. What do you want to play sports?
Yeah, it's hard to decide because neither one of those things, like I'd rather do aerobic exercise, whatever that means, than play sports. I'd rather do a vague, the friending sounding activity than play sports. Like I'd rather go running or swim or go for a hike than like quote, like play baseball. I'm really bad at team sports.
That's part of it. So it's not fun for me to play. But I think I'd rather play sports. Yeah man, I'm really bad at it too.
Well, with those five questions, do you feel like you've learned enough about me to decide whether or not you want to ask me to hang out? Take this relation to the next level. I don't think I want to ask you to hang out. Sorry.
I can't be around someone who likes sports or thinks about sports or you know, sports. Yeah, especially not that. Alright, so now I'm going to do some and answer them what I think you would pick. Okay.
Okay. Bowling or skating. And I'm going to assume they mean ice skating, not skateboarding. And I'm going to go with skating.
Yes. Uh, skiing or sledding. Sliding. I don't think you've been skiing.
I have not been skiing. It looks really hard and sledding laying down. Right. Exactly.
I'm going to go with the ski vacation. You'd be like, yes, I want that. But if it's like, it's snowing, you're like, yeah, give me a sled or a cookie sheet. And I'll roll myself on the side.
Sitting inside. Yeah. We're sitting inside watching other people's gee while I drink hot chocolate with readbook. Hot chocolate with some Bailey's maybe.
Sounds good. Also a cliched roaring fire. Yeah. Golf or putt putt putt.
Putt putt. Obviously a game you would get weirdly good at and then yell about a lot. Whereas golf, you'd be like boring this book. Yeah.
Sadly, all of that's far too true. I feel like we've never gone putt putt together, even though we would both answer the question that way. I wonder if we have. Maybe not though.
I don't know. I've only been in my adult life. I've only been mini golfing on dates with boys. Oh, well we should go sometime.
It's fun. I'm really good at it and I shout about it. I'm not good, but that's no surprise. Yeah.
Car or truck? Car? Car, yeah, probably. I feel like trucks are ideologically like, I don't know.
I'm not into trucks. I was an ideological stance. Right. I mean, yeah.
I'm like, if it was a truck with a pop up trailer and I'd be down with that. Sure. Van or Sedan? Again.
Who gives a fucking shit? No, this is a point. This is what will help you decide if you want to be my friend or not. Can you imagine?
Okay. First of all, first of all, you are total. You said Sedan? I feel like Sedan is your answer, but also I can imagine a van coming into your life.
I feel like you have to get a new car and there's this crazy scream and deal in a van. And you're like, actually, this is really good because I can move a lot of stuff. I've decided I've started crafting, you know, vintage furniture and you're like, I can drive all my friends around. You're like, I can do some van life.
Like I feel like I can imagine a world in which areas. I feel like it's such a bad idea to have. And I'm right, but I feel like it's such a bad idea to like, invite that much space into my car. No.
Yeah. You don't deserve any car that's like bigger than the hatchback. Two-Door you have. I know.
I don't really don't. Ooh. This is a tricky one because I don't know what one of these words means. Oh, I think I figured it out.
Cool. Okay. Ready circus or carnival? You didn't know which one of those words did you not know what I was confused by carnival?
And then I realized it means like the county fair or something, maybe would fit in the carnival category where there's like rides and popcorn and things, whereas the circus is like, elephant dancing. Yeah. Oh, that's a tricky one. Let me think.
Oh, I think do you feel like it's a hard decision for you to choose or do you feel like it's really easy for you to choose? No, I feel like it's really easy. Carnival? Yeah.
Okay. So I feel like so I was like carnival, I can hear you in my head talking about like your favorite rides, your favorite snacks, the experience, the like, you know, it happens. The eight-year-old I am. Yeah.
Well, it happens in like every TV show. So like there's definitely a lot of like meaning and culture just around the idea of it. But I also think that you could be like a closet circus freak. No, because of the animals and the mistreatment of animals.
I couldn't really. Oh, because it's all about like sad animals. It's only sad animals. Same reason I can't, I don't go to zoos or anything like that.
Same reason. Too sad. And when we went out, we went one summer in this like like Lake Resort town in Wisconsin called I don't even remember the name of it. Like maybe Lake Delavan.
And we were homeless at the time. And there was a family that we knew that was like.. You can have our lake house, like you can live in our lake house for a couple months or whatever. And so it was weird cause we were like in this like fancy, fancy vacation home that they typically rented out.
Anyway, it was in this town where the circus had started or ended or something. And the elephant, they had a museum about the circus. that was free and I feel like I spent every day at the Elephant Museum. But when the elephants would die, they would like sink their bodies in the lake because that was like, how else would you dispose of a body that giant?
But like in the lake it actually decomposes really well. And so it was just this weird idea of this like, it just felt like there was the ghosts of these elephants and like the skeletons of these elephants at the bottom of this like lake in a town where it's just like people are water skiing and stuff. It was so weird to me. Isn't that weird?
So it froze for that entire story. It just caught up to where you are now. Cool. I'm going to just pretend that I heard your story.
It sounded like it was a good story. It was a story about ghosts skeletons at the bottom of a lake. Like I said, it sounds like a good story. Because I mean, we're just getting into the entertainment sector here.
I mean, hot tub or hot spring, skydiving or bungee jumping, bus or train, Africa or Asia, comedy or horror. I mean, where does it begin? Where does it end? I think it's fun for you to do them.
So you do them for me from some more. Books or magazines? Books, of course. Hip hop or R&B?
Hip hop. Yeah. Yeah. That's right.
Okay. Sports or reading? Sports. Sports for sure.
Romance or horror? Oh, that's tricky. I mean, I don't really know what romance means. So I'm going to pick horror.
Motel or hotel? Hotel? Nobody's like, I prefer a motel. Right?
What does that even mean? Grammys or Oscars? Oscars? Mm-hmm.
This one's hard. I don't know the answer to this. Star Wars or Star Trek? Neither.
Neither. I hate both of them so much. I spend one of my great pleasures in life, never to date anyone who gives a single flying fuck about either one. I've dated anyone upset.
I've never dated anyone upset. So I dated people who are like, oh my god, you haven't seen Star Wars, let's watch it. Or Lord of the Rings or, I don't know other things. I'm like, let's talk about Harry Potter.
I used all my energy up on Harry Potter. Yep. Detailed or abstract. Why that's in the entertainment category.
I'm not sure. But I'm going to go with detailed. Yeah, I'd say it's detailed. I'm going to call that a wrap on a entertainment in our relationship.
We have, I mean, we've got other categories. There's appearance. There's home slash family where one of the options is electric or natural light. Couples?
Couples? Boobs or butts? What the hell? Hang on, there's a description about couples.
This is for couples to answer about their relationship. You can even put a twist on this part of the game and have them answer their questions on a sheet of paper for how their partner would answer them and then compare. That's one way to get divorced. Oh, I have some, I have some Briar Horse updates for you.
Oh, what are they? Our listener Heather Dodds recently listened to the Briar Horse story and she had to tell me two Briar Horse stories from her own childhood. One of which was that she had a friend who wanted to take her Briar Horses into the swimming pool and, but then didn't want to get them wet. And so she kept getting deeper and deeper, but she was holding them above her head, but she couldn't swim good enough.
And so she panicked and she still wouldn't get them wet. So her dad had to like jump in like a lifeguard and save her in the Briar Horses. I love that. I really love that.
That's how life should be, you know. And then hang on, let me pull up the other story. Okay, and one time Heather tried to ride one of her Briar Horses and its leg broke off. Oh no!
Well, they should break so easily. Yeah, she thinks probably she was acting out because her dad didn't build her a Briar Horse farm. And she would link you to take some artsy photos of your horses to share with listeners. I would have to unpack them and I'm really worried about the damaging them for future value.
I did look them up on eBay and I feel like none of them are worth enough money to make anything worth it, you know? Sure. Which is disappointing. Well, what else is new?
All right, joke life moments. We teased years earlier. We did, except I can't actually tell it. You'll have to tell it for me.
Why? Because people are listening in the room you're in? Yes. Okay, so Amanda, upon arriving in Iceland, quickly checked herself into a bar to get some booze and use the facilities.
You know, it's been a long flight. Sometimes, you know, you're sharing a hostel to a bunch of people. You don't want them to know what your business is. So you go to the bar to have a drink and use the facilities.
And well, there was no toilet paper, but she did have a paper bag. No. So there was also nothing in the room. Like I looked like I was like towels.
You know, this is the great north. Oh, it really is. So she did what she had to do, which was rip some pages out of her book and use those to wipe her ass. When you put it that way, it sounds so horrible.
So that's Amanda's joke life moment. My joke life moment apparently is that I exist. It's enough of a laugh. My joke life moment is also poop related, actually.
Okay. So my cats, when we drive, so when we're moving our home, they don't ride in the trailer when we drive because that would be super dangerous. They ride in the truck with me and they have like a little cat carrier that they hang out in and they have a little litter box on the floor that when they have to go to the bathroom, they get out of the cat carrier and go into the litter box. And there because before that happened, they climbed into my lap to go to the bathroom in my lap.
Gross. Yeah, I was just asking, and I was like, well, now I'm a real mom. And also we must come up with a better solution. This is horrible.
Well, I hadn't so I hadn't cleaned out that litter box. Like since the last time we had driven and because the cab of my truck is so small, like any smell in there, if there's if it's sitting in a hot car that's just been like parked on the side of the road, you open the car door and it's like pungent. Right. And then you like turn the car on and then it blows all the air out blows all the pungent air out.
Anyway, the other night, I mean, I was at your house. We were working and grandma's hanging out with us, our friend Graham. And he walked me to my car after and I opened the car door and he goes, are you cats in there? And I was like, no, that would be really sad.
I don't know. They're like back in the trailer. They're not here with me. Why?
And he goes, no reason. Which I've never heard Graham say no reason to any question ever in my entire life. Right. Right.
Which I mean, and so I think he was lying. And my guess is the reason was because of like the cat box smell. Sure. But also, I don't know what the reason was.
I mean, what if it was something else? Well, what could it be? That's my joke. I don't know, but that's my joke like moment that a he had to lie to me and b I don't even know what it was.
And see my cat see my truck smells like passion. Yep. Magical. Magical.
So listeners, if you have a joke like moment where something happens that just reminds you how much your life is truly a joke. You can always submit that on our website to girls. You can share your billboard reach there too. Yeah, but your feelings in the box and hit enter.
Send it to us and we'll talk about it on the air. You can read us review us. Tell your friends. Please do.
That'd be great. And we will see you next week with more stories of sports, Iceland, milk, cereal. And this American life. And this American life.
Bye. At home and abroad.
