Yeah, and I was like imagine if the shoshank redemption were a mini series set in an abandoned airport This is like this is just vintage King where it's like a cavalcade of different sorts of folks Yeah, one yeah with one characteristic each yeah exactly in that way it is exactly like the stand right um, so I So when it was on TV originally I was like and I was I was still this is 95 So I was like 13 probably a little bit too old to be watching it like yeah into like steaming King But like I still watch it. Yeah, you know, they're sold on the the CGI plane Could you spot the difference because there are also shots of real planes? Yeah makes you wonder why they didn't just use those See that's how you that's what people don't understand when you mix practical and the CGI That's when it really hits a sweet spot.

Yeah, he he's the character who is dragging this movie forward through time using exposition Yeah, so Everybody gets on this fucking plane.
Mm-hmm and then oh, yeah, it's in in the first this happens in the first 10 minutes. Yeah, they uh, no no like real besides that thing with Nick and Laurel there's no like interaction really between the characters we see bronzing pinchos scream at someone we see uh Dina and her aunt at the air her aunt who is gone within the first five minutes Yeah, because all these characters get on the same plane. It's an overnight flight. They all go to bed right and when they wake up Everybody on the plane is gone except for them Everyone on the plane is the muppet gone, so that's exactly right Yeah, right.
Yeah, um and the whole for the first hour of this movie they're on that plane being like what happened? Yeah I don't know. We make a stop and everybody got off and in everybody seats There's like all the work and jewelry and like walkmans and just yeah, just other stuff extra stuff extra stuff and You know this completely perplexing thing Uh dean stockwell figures out in a matter of moments like as soon as someone's like what's going on? He's like, you know, I actually I know I'm gonna tell you a wrong thing first For no reason.
Yeah, it's like a time. Yeah, well, it's not even like but they could have had him think that was the case And then be wrong. Yeah, just so you're operating under like this false assumption So there's like some sort of turn or something something but uh albert is like what happened and he gives this theory He's like, oh my god. All right, and then so we have him I'm gonna take my headphones off I'm gonna put in business meeting and boston this morning at nine o'clock and I for bad you The fly us into some whistle stop main airport.

Uh grabbing him by the nose and fucking oh, no, Bethany going nose hold that was one of that might end up being my shining moment That was so funny. Yeah, yeah, bros and pinto's freaking out Uh, Nick grabs him by the nose like between his index and middle finger almost in like a three stoo Just like you do grabbing me a smack or like a got your nose, but he actually had his nose You're right and Bethany who we haven't established.

Yeah, yeah And she's on this flight to go to rehab to clean up or like go stay with her aunt so that she can detox Well, I think I think first she says she's going to stay with her aunt, but I think the reality Yeah, but again, this is another fucking thing like okay, so she's got a drug drug. Oh my god Why not have that be a problem that she's detoxing nothing during all of this stressful shit.
Yeah Not it doesn't take much You don't even have to get her different dialogue. You just need to like be like hey by the way you're detoxing Right. Like they set up I feel like every one of these characters has a setup to a further story that they just like don't explore whatsoever Also, they had the time. Oh my god.
All they had was time. Yeah, ironically in a movie about time standing still right. Yeah, um There this is one of those things that's based on not a novel but a short story or novella within like a larger book, right? And usually I mean it's the same problem where they like for whatever reason they're incapable of padding it out with like new plot points or like Just added character stuff.
It yeah, I don't know when but the problem with giving these people like character stuff is like no one in this movie can really act Well, right that even like even like David Morris who I would say is he's been in movies where he's very good Yeah, um he does a very bad job. It's like they just took all his like first takes like we're just gonna film rehearsals just in case Like what your costume when you're costume when he's like he's on before he gets on this plane He's on another plane that he's going to fly and somebody like one of the flight attendants pulls him off of that plane And they're having like some bit of dialogue as they're walking off and the guy says like um your wife You know something about your wife and boss or whatever and there's like five seconds where dean stev- uh dave Morris doesn't say anything And then he's like oh, yeah, I have a line here. Hold on And then he like oh, I thought you had more to say right it's like oh man. This is it's bad That's that's the beginning of the movie right?
Yeah, uh, so it's a short story It's it's one of four stories in the four past midnight book Yeah of novellas and they expanded it out to a three-hour miniser. Yeah, like like all you I don't know. It's so confusing like was was this there in two parts? This was there in two parts so hour and a half What if the whole first half is them trying to figure out what's going on?
Yeah, could have been and like doing character stuff Yeah, and then and then you take the last half to like resolve the character stuff and resolve the story Sure. Oh my god. That's storytelling is what it is. I don't know man.

Yeah, uh when they get off Uh the plane They're all like it's almost weird about the air out here and uh dina goes Something smells wrong very wrong and the shite shot titans on her face as she says very yeah, yeah Um one of the other things real quick about dina when um when to me is having that flip out on the plane Where he's like scaring the little girl and whatever and everybody starts like turning against him.
They're like we're gonna kick your ass if you don't shut the fuck up Um he starts to me starts seeing all of the characters as like these weird like creatures with no faces I miss that okay There were it was like it all it looked like the characters had like a latex like mask pulled over like super tight And it was like it was all smosh didn't yeah, it was like weird and like why greenish and bluish colors Because she's seeing them through his eyes. Well, this is what to me is seeing and then dina also sees that because Wait, is that what to me seeing or is that just no that that is what to me is seeing All right, he's like you're all blur faces and he doesn't say but he does say you're all langoliers at one point Yeah, he does so that's like one of his good moments when he's not screaming is when uh what's his name? Albert runs into the room after gaffney gets stabbed he goes you're one of them aren't you? You're a langolier.
He's got like a weird little smile on his face. Oh, yeah, it was that the whole time the way that when he when he stabs that guy gaffney And he swings around yeah, I like that right that's like what the whole thing should have been was like comedic sort of because he's such a loon that Yeah, and I don't know if that's what he was going for but there was just nothing funny about it He was simply screaming. Yeah, there was no like music to it. There were no cadence is nothing fun, right?
So yeah, so what he's seeing smooshy faces. Yeah, dina shines. Yeah. Hey, we gotta shine And what what we end up like finding out once they land a fucking plane and everything they try like getting some food and drinks and stuff Everything is like spoiled or flat and then dean sogwell comes up with his theory saying like oh based on just that That is a fucking soda's flat and that match won't like yeah based on that but he like it's not even like he got it like snaps Like to him he doesn't just like come up with it like right like that.

He's a he's a real Jerry Gergench It's so weird that guy he doesn't die right he makes it to the end he does not die he should have died He really should he his character says almost nothing he did not deserve to live and And so so our group once they figure out like we've passed through a rip in time right that yeah That is Dean Stockwell's the media thought right and what what we find out about going traveling in time is that you can't the way He puts it is like you can't go stop the JFK assassination You can't go see ancient Rome once you once a moment happens it begins deteriorating exactly so that's why so flat That's why I say which tastes bad. That's right. They they kind of just fall to the ground right So so we've captured to me and to me has his whole flag.
I think he keeps seeing his dad. Yeah, he's a piece of father who is also a yeller. I like to think that the source material is good although I was reading up on it And I know we're not supposed to talk about the book, but it's like weirdly faithful to the novelli Yeah, and like I guess the difference is that's shorter like it doesn't feel like it's not three hours Right. I don't feel that way.
