Chamomile. In what might be our final episode with a guest, we are delighted to welcome Luca, Elsa's close friend, an Italian who has lived in Tenerife for the past nine years. This conversation is a heartfelt journey through personal memories, thought-provoking ideas, and inspiring reflections on tradition and innovation. We begin with a tender memory from Luca's childhood, centered around chamomile tea. When his father, a dedicated farmer, returned from long days in the field and needed a moment of rest, Luca’s mother would give him and his siblings chamomile to calm them and create a quiet atmosphere. This simple ritual serves as a reminder of how traditions can create lasting bonds and shape our perspectives. The conversation transitions to broader themes, including the challenges and opportunities faced in rural areas. Luca reflects on the tension between preserving traditions and embracing innovation, asking whether this dichotomy is simply a matter of mindset. Together, we explore what can be done to bridge these seemingly opposing forces and how progress can coexist with respect for heritage. Another key theme in the episode is the balance between purpose and results. We share our own purposes and discuss the importance of leading by example. Luca draws inspiration from his father, a true visionary who introduced organic farming in the 1980s and now, in retirement, is exploring agrovoltaics. Luca himself mirrors this forward-thinking spirit, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation. Today, his work focuses on emerging financial technologies, such as blockchain and cryptocurrencies, demonstrating his commitment to shaping the future. A phrase that resonated deeply during our conversation was, “The reward for good work is more work.” This idea sparked a meaningful discussion about dedication, the pursuit of excellence, and the sense of purpose that comes from continually challenging oneself. This episode is an inspiring reflection on tradition, innovation, and the power of leading with purpose.
