Doing so can reduce anger, lower your heart rate, and soothe both of you in moments of tension. A physical connection can help your both regulate emotions during triggering, stressful moments or when discussing challenging topics. Sitting close or lying together can create a sense of closeness and warmth. Physical touch, such as cuddling, can be especially beneficial when you both are feeling vulnerable or need reassurance.
