36. Sometimes I Think About Killing Myself: My Experience with Depression & How I Want to Normalize It

from The Inner Briefing · host Marie Groover

You don’t earn depression & no one has more of a right to it than you do. Because depression can't be earned & it has no right. It just is. And it doesn’t have to look like whatever people think it’s supposed to look like. Depression can look like months in bed, debilitated and immobile. But, I think far more often it looks like a smile or even laughter in the presence of others. This is hands down the most vulnerable episode of The Spiritual 9-5 to date. It's heavy. It's meaningful. It matters. And there is no point to it, other than to share my genuine experience, because I think the world needs more of that. Disclaimer: I am not a therapist (nor am I offering any advice whatsoever) and this episode may be triggering for those who have had experience with individuals who have committed suicide. Please know that I am not here to trigger, only to share what's real for me. Episode themes: Depression, Mental Health, Normalizing Depression, Authenticity, Using your voice, Personal Development, Leadership Development, Real Life
