#37: Casablanca (1942)

from The Latecomers

Show Notes We watch one of the most famous and lauded films in cinema history – and we like it! This week we discuss another Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains vehicle, this time it’s 1942’s Casablanca – and we think it’s going to be the start of a wonderful friendship. Genuinely funny dialogue, characters with depth and clear motivations, a general maturity from the leads and neutrality that doesn’t lead to complicity – it’s a near perfect film. And, it’s thrilling because, you know, nazis.   Recommendations: The Yakuza (HBO Max)   Next up: Bullitt (1968)                                                                                            Email us at [email protected] Twitter: @latecomerspod Find Amity @ www.amityarmstrong.com and @AmityArmstrong on Twitter Our Facebook group is here for those who consent: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1754020081574479/
