37. Navigating Your Own Expectations & Saying No... But, Yes

Nobody panic, but we’re almost through July! It’s the perfect time for this powerful conversation I had with Dakota Dawn Johnson in today’s episode. We’re talking about navigating our own expectations, and I want to encourage you to have this same conversation with the people in your life. What are your expectations for yourself?Dakota shares that while she’s always thinking about cowboys, kids, cattle, etc., she has to remind herself that we all have different buckets we’re navigating. She shares a visual of Dusti Crain-Dickerson while Roman Riding and how she’s in control and has the reins. So do we. We can change direction or expectations at any time. We talk about how saying “no” isn’t necessarily a hard no, but rather, you’re finding the right “yes” that fits with the season of life you’re in right now. Dakota shares a personal and recent story that shows how she went from responding “yes” on the spot to giving herself the space to be more intentional with her time. You can learn to say “no” to something but “yes” in other ways. Getting clear on your priorities so you know what the best things to say “no” and “yes” to are is important and will always be a work in progress for us all.
