from Chofetz Chaim Podcast Hosted by R' Elchonon Kuritsky
The third mitzvah enumerated by the Chofetz Chaim is (Vayikra 25:35): "And if your brother grows poor and his hand falls with you, then you shall uphold him [even if he be], proselyte or sojourner; and he shall live with you." And (Ibid 16): "And your brother shall live with you,". If the Lashon Hara were to affect the livelihood of the subject negatively then this would clearly be in violation of this mitzvah. Unfortunately this is extremely common when sharing information relating to restaurants or services. Although people may often feel there is a benefit to this information, it can only be given over after factoring in all of the halachic considerations.
