37. Troubled Hearts - A discussion on suicide

from Fathers Fire · host Jody Sedrick

This week we sit down for a heart felt discussion about suicide.  In that past 10 days our family has had two teens very close to us attempt suicide.  I thought it would be helpful to share some key things to listen and watch for. Thing to be attuned to even if they're not talking Major Loss in their life. This could include a divorce, death of a loved one, etc. Feeling abandoned or betrayed by a loved one or someone they've trusted Severe peer pressure including bullying Experiencing extreme humiliation If you see any of these please don’t push it aside - listen, empathize and act when needed. 5 things your loved on might say that are cues they may be considering suicide: Nothing Matters, it’s not that important I wonder how many people would show up at my funeral Sometimes I wanna go to sleep and never wake up Everyone would be better off without me You won’t have to worry about me much longer If you are struggling with this in your family and you don’t know where to turn please reach out to me.
