38. Unicorns

from Infinite Rabbit Hole · host Jeremy Socha

The earliest mention of the mythological horse-like creature known as a Unicorn, was in the written piece Indica, Authored by the Greek physician Ctesias in 400 BCE. In Indica, Ctesias described “wild asses which are large as horses and even larger. Their bodies are white, their heads dark red, and their eyes dark blue. They have a horn in the middle of the forehead that is one cubit [about a foot and a half] in length: the base of the horn is pure white… the upper part is sharp and of a vivid crimson and the middle portion is black. - Freeman, 14. Ctesias documented the stories told to him by those travelling the Silk Road (the main route of transportation from China to Western Europe which spans more than 14,000 miles). Many think that this mythological creature is exactly just that, myth. But how does that explain the fact that ancient civilizations throughout the world have art and hieroglyphs depicting these magical creatures and no way to communicate between themselves. Can we for sure say that just because we do not have a fossil record of the Unicorn, that it never existed. Eh, probably. But let’s take a look anyway. Welcome back to Infinite Rabbit Hole! Explicit Tales From The Rabbit Hole Mick West Tales from the Rabbit Hole is an interview-style podcast focusing on people whose lives have been affected by the conspiracy theory rabbit hole. Guests will include both former and current believers in a variety of conspiracy theories, as well as debunkers, skeptics, and the investigators of those theories. I’m Mick West, a debunker. I wrote the book Escaping the Rabbit Hole – How to Debunk Conspiracy Theories using Facts, Logic, and Respect. This book came from my experiences running Metabunk – a debunking forum. Over the years I realized simply presenting corrections to people is not enough. We need effective communication, and we can’t do that if we don’t listen to and talk with each other. I’m hoping this podcast will help bridge that gap. Explicit The Midnight Cinema Screening Unkn  Welcome to The Midnight Cinema Screening. This is basically the place where we hang out after midnight and talk about movies and TV shows that stuck with us… the good, the bad, the weird, and the ones that probably shouldn’t exist but somehow do. I also talk about true crime. If you love horror, cult classics, creepy shows, and the occasional random deep dive into something strange, you’re in the right place. Nothing here is super scripted or overly serious. It’s more like sitting around with friends after a late-night movie, breaking down what worked, what didn’t, and the moments that made you pause the screen and go, “Wait… what just happened?”Some episodes we’ll be reviewing movies. Some we’ll be talking about TV episodes. And sometimes we’ll just go down a rabbit hole about the weird history behind something we watched. So if you like late-night movie talk, dark stories, and conversations that feel a little unfiltered Explicit E Squared Podcast E Squared Podcast The E Squared podcast is hosted by Ethe1st and OnlyRandz.
