from DareToCare - Animal Welfare Podcast · host Aimée, Anette, Maya, Silke, Mascha and Annette

This time it's all about elephants! The bigges living animal on land! Danielle Carnahan is a wildlife conservationist, very passionate about ethical wildlife tourism and also a huge advocate for the welfare of especially asian elephants. When I talked to her she was still in Nepal, collecting more data for her resarch, helping a specific bull elephant and also visiting other facilities who work with elephants. We talked about the so-called training programm for young elephants who are later being used in the tourist industry, about things regarding the treatment and management of elephants that are often misunderstood by western tourists. Furthermore, about the breeding programms and what kind of mental impact it has on both female and male elephants.
