#39 - Matt Wells

Host Randy Harris sits down with Matt Wells — a Pike County native who rose from volunteer firefighter and EMS director to Assistant Chief at the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office. They discuss his personal journey, major responses like the 2005 tornado, and how small-town values shaped his career. The episode explores the State Fire Marshal’s mission: fire prevention, investigations, and safety regulations, plus real-world issues like arson, product recalls, and smoke alarm importance. It also covers how technology — cell data, AI, drones, 3D scans, and forensic science — is changing investigations and public safety.
