39. Mignonne Gavigan: Founder Mignonne Gavigan

from How'd She Do That? · host Emily Landers

Mignonne Gavigan, Founder of Mignonne Gavigan joins host Emily Landers on today's episode of HSDT?. Mignonne “Maggie” Gavigan, New York City, North Carolinian bred accessories designer is widely regarded for her playful, color-forward aesthetic and fresh, elevated point of view, who continues to redefine wearable designs with a couture sensibility.  After graduation from UNC-Chapel Hill, Gavigan's passions led her to the Sorbonne in Paris where she began her design studies at Parsons Paris and later concluded them at Parsons New York. In 2007, Gavigan felt inspired when she was draping a gown for a fashion show and ripped up a vintage piece to provide inspiration for bead placement. After the show, she fastened the embellished fabric around her neck with a safety pin like a scarf to accessorize her staple tee-shirt, jeans, and sneakers ensemble - a style that would sooner become her signature "scarf necklace" carried throughout each season. Today, Gavigan is headquartered in New York with her close-knit team. Maggie shares lessons she learned while in school, encourages listeners to work hard, and shares how nature inspires her designs!
