3M Rises, Halliburton Mixed, Genuine Parts Shares Fall on Cut Guide, Deal Denial

Halliburton reported adjusted operating income of $683 million for the second quarter, down 6.1% from a year earlier and below average analyst expectations. Halliburton has expanded its frack work overseas, including a multibillion-dollar contract with Argentina's state-run oil company YPF SA and a multi-year contract with Saudi Aramco. -Genuine Parts (GPC) slumps. The parts retailer cut its full-year earnings per share guidance.
