4.17.19:Credible Threat School Closures-Urban Camping Ban-Words Are Powerful

from The Americhicks · host The Americhicks

Welcome to the Americhicks podcast. Kim Monson is your host - Agree or disagree, let's have a conversation! Don't forget about the Stand for Colorado rally on May 10th. The event will be held in three different Colorado locations at the same time. Listen to the podcast for more details or visit the website - standforcolorado.com The vast majority of public schools in the metro Denver area are closed today. They are closed in response to what is being called a credible threat from a armed young lady who flew into Colorado from Florida and is fascinated by the Columbine High School shootings. A state ballot question would replace the state gas tax with a sales tax. Jamey Cutter, owner of the Corner Bakery (cornerbakerycafe.com) joins Kim in discussion of Denver's Initiative 300. Initiative 300 would allow urban camping within Denver. The Corner Bakery has already experienced the result of urban camping in downtown Denver. It had a very negative impact on downtown business. It is also worth noting that Initiative 300 does not one thing to actually help the homeless, but it does negatively impact property owners. What’s been happening under the Golden Dome at Colorado’s capitol this legislative session, may not be so golden. How do we have a conversation with friends, family and colleagues who are busy and not paying attention? Kim's fellow Toastmasters,Brad Beck and Greg Morrissey share their insights on how to have these important conversations. Words and how we use them are powerful. ________________________________________________ Copyright 2019: The Americhicks W/Kim Monson Visit us at www.americhicks.com To have someone contact you about advertising on the radio program, the podcast, or the Americhicks website visit:www.americhicks.com/contact and fill out the form.
