4.2 Happy Radio Times and Places

AT LONG last, we've covering some Doctor Who comic strips featuring the Eighth Doctor, as we travel back to 1996/97. We chat with writer Gary Russell and illustrator Lee Sullivan in depth, about the 42 episodes of the comic strip which featuring each week in the Radio Times, with the Doctor being joined by new companions Stacy Townsend and Ssard the Ice Warrior.  They share how the strip came to be, the excitement of crafting adventures each week - Dreadnought, Descendance, Ascendance, Perceptions and Coda - which were set on a spaceship in the future, on Mars, and in Victorian London, as well as the hurried two-part conclusion to what was ultimately planned as an 18 month arc. And, courtesy of Stephen Day, we've got some of the dialogue from the opening story, Dreadnought, being brought to life.
