4/23/2023- Ep 2.2: "Father"

The Lord’s Prayer is the greatest prayer the church has. It is important for us not to just “say” the Lord’s Prayer, but to actually pray it. To understand the depth of its meaning and how it gives us a lens through which we can look at everything. Jesus begins with the declaration that God is “our Father in heaven”. Three words give us a window into who God is and who we are in Christ. (1) “our”: we are not rogue individuals, but rather part of the family of God, with brothers and sisters in Christ to whom we have a responsibility. (2) “Father”: God is our Abba (Dear Father) who is near to us, loves us, and who we can approach with confidence. (3)”heaven”: while we are free to engage with God intimately, we do so always with honor, reverence, awe, wonder, and respect, as he is the transcendent, perfect and holy King.  Hosted on Acast.
