The following issues are discussed by Dayan Raskin in this week’s episode: 1)  In the Sefardi Sidurim there is no שיר של יום for Shabbos. Why? [1] 2)  Upon purchase of a home should I say שהחיינו ? 3)  What is the reason that we make a Kiddush for the birth of a daughter? [3] 4)  On Shabbos, our young child emptied the urn of hot water. Thankfully he didn’t hurt himself. May we ask a Goy to boil fresh water, of which the Goy will enjoy one cup?[4] 5)  I keep chickens in my back garden. Last night I heard the chickens screaming. This alerted me to a fox in the garden, which I chased away. Are the chickens now ספק דרוסה? Are their eggs permissible? Or: does the fact that the hens continue to lay eggs determine that they are kosher?[5] 6)  At our men’s mikva, the room where one washes hands opens to the changing room: a) Does the doorway in between make any difference (although it remains open)? b) May one say a bracha with his back to the changing room?[6] 7)   Can I donate to a Tzedoko on account of Maaser of future earnings? [7] 8)  Parev foods baked in an oven that was just now used for Pizza. Do I become milchig when eating those parev foods? [8] 9)  Feedback on saying שלום עליכם when reciting Kiddush Levono alone:[9] 10)  Feedback on interrupting during laying Tefilin to answer Modim: [10] [1]  ראה כף החיים סימן קלב אות כו. [2]  במשנה (ברכות נד א): בית חדש או כלים חדשים. וכן בשו"ע או"ח סי' רכג ס"ג. אבל בסדר ברכת הנהנין (יב, א) שינה אדה"ז ל"בגדים חדשים". ולהלן ס"ה הביא המנהג שלא לברך על כלים חדשים. אע"פ שסיבת הרתיעה (אינו מזמן לזמן) שווה בכלים ובבתים. שוב העירו לי מקצות השלחן סי' סד הע' ג שי"ל שזה שייך רק כששילם במזומנים, לא בהלוואה במשכנתא. [3] מנהג זה הובא בכ"מ, ענינו הודי' להשי"ת, וגם לזכות לברכות הידידים. [4] בשוע"ר סי' שיח ס"ה מבואר שאפילו בדיעבד הרי זה אסור. [5] ראה שו"ע יו"ד סי' נז סי"ח; שם סי' פו ס"ט. [6]  בשוע"ר סי' עה ס"ח אוסר בערוה מגולה, גם בעששית וברשות אחרת. אם לא כשפונה גבו (שם ס"ט). אבל לענין הנטילה – שטהרת המים תליא ברוח הט' שבחדר – נראה להקל דמועיל זה שהכיור הוא בחדר החיצון.
