4-26-24 Deputy Chief Resigns and Charged, 35 Foot Blaze at Recycling Center, New Art Venue Opens

Bedford County authorities say a man is in custody following a shooting this morning in the Montvale area. According to Virginia State Police, former Alleghany County Chief Deputy Chad Wickline has resigned and is now charged with two misdemeanors following an accident earlier this month. Phase 1 of a three-part makeover of what Roanoke College is calling its new forward-looking Science Center if officially underway, after a groundbreaking this past Saturday. Residents went before Roanoke City Council to voice concerns about how an increase in property values could impact them. Around 68 firefighters responded to a blaze at a Rocky Mount area recycling center. An attic cleanout is being used as a soft launch of sorts for a new art venue just outside of downtown Roanoke. Motel Studios is being founded by well-known local artist Sarak K Parcell and Pottery Instructor Celeste Hodges.
