Nachdem es im Mai 2012 in Bonn bei einer Demonstration von gewaltbereiten Salafisten zu Ausschreitungen kommt, wird gegen Denis Cuspert ermittelt. Aber als die Polizei ihn in kurze Zeit später in Berlin festnehmen will, ist er nicht mehr da. In Folge 4 werden wir Zeug*innen, wie Denis Cuspert alle Brücken hinter sich abbrennt und Deutschland verlässt. Er nennt sich jetzt Abu Talha al-Almani, ein Kampfname. Mit anderen Dschihadisten reist er durch Syrien, dreht Propagandavideos, singt dschihadistische Kampflieder - und tritt schließlich dem sogenannten Islamischen Staat beitritt.
