#4: Fiona Kerr | Osteopath

In this episode Luke and Sarge talk to Fiona Kerr, an Osteopath currently working in private practice in Melbourne. Fi studied Osteopathy in a 5-year undergraduate degree immediately after finishing high school. During her degree, she gained experience working as a sports trainer at a local football club, and as a receptionist at a private osteopathy clinic. Fi completed her mandatory work placement at a physiotherapy clinic during her final two years of study, eventually turning her part-time receptionist role into an osteopath position that she has been working at ever since. Fi discusses the relevance and importance of business skills in allied health practice, this was not something she had been educated in or anticipated needing before having her own practice. The discussion explores the benefit of volunteering positions and the benefit of mastering one skill at a time in practice before rushing to the next one.
