4: Substantive Cinema | First Reformed
from The Substance Hosted by The Substance Team
This week we take a deep-dive into Paul Schrader's incendiary 2018 spiritual masterpiece First Reformed. Trevor conflates actors with super spies and proposes a crazy theory (tell us if you agree)! Philip tries not to make weird mouth sounds and talk over Trevor. We also have a really wonderful time discussing the film's plot and themes. See First Reformed for yourself: iTunes | Amazon *Disclaimer* This was our first recording. Ever. So it'll be a bit rougher than the others. Also a word of caution that we discuss the issue of suicide in this episode. If you are triggered by these issues, you may want to avoid this one. If you need, you can get some support, or call the national hotline at 1-800-273-8255 confidentially. Released Jan 20, 2019 ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ Thanks for listening!
