Many people use this self-help movement to stay sober, but the problem is when the self-help movement sets itself up as a spiritual solution that often falls short. Step 11 sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. "If you don’t know Jesus then you can’t have conscious contact with God." -Bucci 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”(ESV)
