Georgia improved to 2-0 on the 1980 season with a 42-0 victory over Texas A-M. It was the Sanford Stadium debut for Herschel Walker, who broke loose for a 76-yard touchdown, punctuating the victory and his first 100-yard performance as a Bulldog. Mike Cavan, who wore #12 when he quarterbacked Georgia to the 1968 Southeastern Conference title, was the Bulldogs running backs coach and lead recruiter for "The Goal Line Stalker."
