Calls this week Newsman to boycott a disgusting despicable new film that is being released by the sound of it What massive violence chainsaw massacre there or some sort of torture or anything like that? No, you'd think it would be that sort of movie But no we're talking about the new children's film Peter Rabbit Peter Rabbit. So let me get this right Peter Rabbit like sort of cuddly looking rabbit, so you see it on baby plates and you see lovely little books with children Yeah, he's a fan of people. He's a rabbit.
He's names Peter. Yes up to you know, adventure. He has adventures I'm not one of your fives with your young fella not so much. There is a version of it I have seen a bit of on ABC kids.
I think this is unrelated So it's a famous character You know all kinds of versions this latest film not in the not playing in Australia yet But it is playing overseas and to say there's been a backlash is under under selling it There's a hashtag boy cop Peter Rabbit. Oh, there's a hashtag to stop people going to see it Which you know that point pretty serious. Yeah, um, but no, it's not because of you know He's not wielding chainsaw or anything, but it comes down a lot of the criticism is coming down to quote unquote allergy bullying allergy bullying. Yeah, I'll explain this scene in question Tell me what you think about apparently the rabbits because Peter rabbits got you know, he's got a bit of a squad with him Pals and adventures the rabbits deliberately target a man who has a blackberry allergy They apparently throw blackberries at him causes him to have an allergic reaction and he has to use an epipen And there's another scene in the same movie where the rabbits just make light of allergies have a bit of a laugh about it So that does seem weird.
Let me guess the complainants are Mothers we don't know yet. I think somewhere. Yeah. Yeah, it seems to be the common actually no, we're even be mothers It would be people that just don't have any vested interests Just think that people with allergies would be offended by this people with like people with allergies It is serious like I mean people can die.
Why would they have a scene where they deliberately pelting a guy with an analogy? That it does seem very detailed for no. I'm guessing it doesn't have a big Parton film really to have the algae couldn't they just throw a heap of blackberries at this guy and being a kid's film We could just go oh it's in my eyes. I can't see you can flee now.
Yeah, hard to know without having seen it Anyway, I want to see it now. I had no interest Now. Yeah, well this backlash is probably gonna do no favors Everyone's gonna want to see it. Yeah, right?
Online petition has 8,000 signatures in two days. What they're asking for is an apology from the filmmakers Sorry guys that we did algae bullying is what they want to hear Um, so yeah, I'd say that seeing it, but it does sound strange in this era where allergies are taking very seriously You know that sort of anaphylactic reactions and can die from these things and that he had an epipen I think that is you know, that's a that's a serious allergy. So he's had to use that I don't know maybe maybe that's it they've slipped that in there and he's an example of what not to do But anyway, it doesn't sound like that's how they um framed it but Peter rabbit disgrace To me, I mean, do you have any allergies? No, no, yeah, it's a curious one, but I think people just get a bit carried away, don't they?
It's not just the algae bullying Peter rabbit has done more. Oh, okay I've done more bad things uh, yeah fly upon his nose. He smashed it. Yeah, that's out of the rhymes Yeah, um Apparently a trailer came out for it last year and even when the trailer dropped as they say Uh people were horrified the CGI rabbit is you know, one of those animated things Peter rabbit in this trailer was seen to be twerking We all remember twerking the kind of suggestive bum movement, right, you know, it's like a dance move.
It's one that hilarious though Yeah, I don't see the big deal, but and rabbit doing it's not sexual It doesn't really fit my memory of the Peter rabbit character Twerking is suddenly part of what he does, but you know 21st century we're in now, so bring up to speed. Maybe that's what they were Yeah, he also in the trailer trash an empty house with veggies throwing veggies at the house Grab a pile of lettuce leaves. Oh, sorry. That's one thing trash the house.
Okay, bad stuff Then also grab a pile of lettuce leaves and was making it rain like a bank in a strip club That's a quote like so hand out looking yeah, like you'd flip mokest of the time. Yeah, he's making it rain with lettuce leaves So it does sound like there's some weird stuff happening in this movie You've probably seen more kids than kids films than me recently But don't they generally try to tie in a bit of adult human just to get the parents interested in the film as well. Yeah, right? Sounds just like they've slightly missed the mark, but that's what they try to do often Isn't it just have a couple of little contemporary jokes that the adults and parents can go, oh, yeah, I get that Exactly that stuff goes over the kids heads, but this is too over like references to strip clubs and bullying But to say that is a I believe they don't know what it's advertising now But there's an ad on TV at the moment and to middle age late to middle age Parents are doing the whole flicking the money.
I think their son moves out Okay, and they're just happy that they're saving money, so they're just flicking out like it's nobody nobody's business Well, maybe the real criticism is a hack move like a thing done. I think done. Okay Well, yeah, I think people just take it a little bit too seriously, but yeah I'm gonna think more about the next time I'm armed with a handful of berries and someone's allergic I think twice about it instead. I'll just tell them let's negotiate Let's negotiate.
Let's talk out our problems And if you need support with your anaphylactic what do you call it? And yeah, something like that. Yeah, the more. Yeah, pelting is never the way to go.
No peanuts, blueberries, whatever it is pelting someone Is not the way to go. That's what we learned. Have I seen a movie where someone's got a peanut at the end of a stick and they're chasing Someone that's got an allergic oh Simpson's Haven't seen it. I don't remember that.
I've seen it with the principal Skinner Grents him throughout a school week by having a peanut on a stick. So it has been done. This is going over old ground peter rabbit This one's my own new story. I guess just breaking my own news here.
We're taking it to a new level now So news now no longer relevant just web guy creating news. I like it. Yeah, well, I feel like I've latched under something here Haven't seen much analysis of it. I would like to get into it because actually I've given this new story its own headline as well I'll read it to you.
It's called celebs and they're frigging annoying holidays Probably wouldn't get past too many sub editors, but there's not that many sub editors these days So you'd probably be fine. I like where you're going though a little bit of angriness from the web guy Yeah, maybe it's more ranch. I like what it is Chris Hemsworth Hollywood mega star Hunk home in a way starred turned Hollywood star is he a hunk? Apparently, I don't think people use the word hunk anymore.
It just sounds like hunk of something But he's a big man. He is ripped as they would say he's he's played Thor as one of his famous things You don't get a little scrawny little guy to play Thor some kind of demigod It's such a cool If there are certain parts that just will stick with you Thor is a fantastic one superman is another one Probably Batman is another one but go on the man who plays Thor he is in South Australia at the moment over the weekend He was apparently in the barossa sampling a few wines making his own Growing wine out of the glass onto the vine. Why would you do that? Yeah, he did give some explanation But I can't remember but maybe it was just a good photo opportunity.
I would like to know the explanation for me It's like just a waste anyway He was in the barossa and then he's been doing some tourism straight stuff we spoke about that during the super bomb and Going to this week we now are hearing he's in he's on Kangaroo Island Just a quick Google search just for Chris Hemsworth and the top three Results are all new stories about Hollywood superstar Chris Hemsworth go swimming with locals. He did you know diving with Number two Chris Hemsworth in South Australia this weekend Blendy's own charades. That's one a few days ago Third story Chris Hemsworth shows off his massive arms in Adelaide That last time I was from the Daily Mail, right? So that's you can see there at the angle they take and there's shots of him in like a tank top photos of him getting out of the You know private jet when you arrive at Adelaide Airport These massive arms so guns guns at the Adelaide Airport.
Yeah, but no danger. No Chris Hemsworth Yes So the question to you newsman is is this guy on a holiday or just some kind of work spricking trip The more I initially I bought into it But now when they first mentioned he was touching down and doing a bit of stuff with Jacobs Creek I thought I had a bit of promotional but holiday Nevertheless, but now I think you're right towards a travel haul and he's he's He's basically Sticking up the benefits of someone putting on a nice holiday and getting him to take a few Instagram pics and away goes Yeah, this is what I'm thinking. I'm thinking it's a it's a charade. You send these famous people away on a quote unquote holiday He's wearing a tank top.
He's swimming with the locals. Yeah It's not a holiday at all. It's actually just a really easy easy job that he's that he's on to look like he's on a holiday But really this is all teed up. You know he's told to go here go there You gotta take this probably go to meet at Instagram quota.
You know, you gotta take this many photos of yourself on Instagram But what defines a holiday? I mean if someone sure someone's telling him what to do But he could still be enjoying it and he's away from home. Well, that's right It is it might be a job, but it's still an easy job. He's family is with and he's got his kids with him Okay, well, we got some things we've got to do here, but heck the family gets to come along We get to do some fun stuff.
We get to throw some wine on the ground. Yes. Yes It's funny. There was a interview with a tourism operator from the Barossa Valley on a local Adelaide radio station And he was speaking to the host and he was saying All of Adelaide's media left Chris Hemsworth totally aligned took a few Took a couple minutes of vision and that was about it Yeah, this tourism operator was saying if you'd actually somehow got in touch with Chris's people He would have done it to you.
So probably once again strengthening your argument. He is here to just promote the crap out of everything Yeah, it's it's a modern day version of a product placement You know how you you know, they might pay a celebrity to drink a specific brand of soft drink or something They would place the product in a movie TV show. You see someone drinking fanta and supposedly you think oh, I might have fanta too This is just really sophisticated product placement where the product is instead of Soft drink. It's like a whole state or even a whole country That's a showing off and the thing about his celebrities is they all have these massive portable audiences Like he brings with him like 14 million instagram followers or something Um, so they've got they've got a mass market that they can just take wherever they want with them That's pretty pretty wicked good for them.
I said wicked. I meant wicked. He's on a good wicked You are very analytical and that is great, but I am taken in by it I will admit it when I see Thor Enjoying the Barossa Valley and soaking up the scene. I think if I went there I would mention that I would be with my partner going.
I wear like Chris Hemsworth Where we're living the life Chris Hemsworth. Okay. So it works for me So you would see it and inspire you to go and follow his footsteps pretty much and I probably come up with some sort of facebook post saying Chris did it. I'll do it too.
That's sort of corny stuff He's not the only one doing this I don't know where you were if you didn't notice in January that Will Smith was in Australia on holidays. Yeah, he popped up everywhere he was His spot on top of the Harbour Bridge. He was Australian Open. He tossed the coin in a big bash match He he was like posting every second he was posting photos himself at some new cafe Talking about coffee what Australia calls.
Yeah Cops coffee. This is when I started to think something's up here because that is just like what the heck like is he was he promoting a film at all? There was a film. He did one interview for a film which was supposedly the reason for the trip But the rest of the time he spent just doing whatever he wanted and I'm seeing him at the Australian Open And he's you know live videoing himself and he looks just as ridiculous doing a live video as anyone like you look foolish He's there in the middle of an event and he's staring at his own phone Like and like holding it out and like spinning around, you know, it looked it looked it looked dumb So what helped the rest of us have but anyway, he went everywhere.
He did everything I think Is he actually on a whole how was that a holiday when you're having to you know report essentially report back on every single thing you're doing? You're a very insightful man. Web guy. I I must admit the Will Smith trip passed him by very quickly I just thought yeah, he's here to promote a movie But generally when they do that they jam in about five interviews within three days on every TV station every popular Radio station and then they're out of here, but you're right he was here for quite a period of time doing some very corny and promotional stuff Yeah, videoing himself doing boat ride You know product placement to the max there anyway fine.
That's all right. You know if you get offered that work take it Um, but yeah, I guess just watch out for a a celeb holiday near you very soon I do like this new product by some of you talk about fan to being used in movies and I feel like one now Reporter went undercover this week news man. You ever you ever done that? I have I might bring it up a bit later It wasn't overly successful, but we do love an undercover report Don't we really get to the dirt of some big issues.
Yeah, they love it in the UK this happened in the UK Um sort of like they they entrap people a lot of times. I think celebrities like I think warning might have caught in a couple secret cameras Yeah, I think the more Uh the cameras off tilt and hidden the more we like it. Yeah, this reporter must be getting some tips that hey, uh, when you're staying in a hotel room And you go out for a little while Um, someone from the hotel comes in cleans up your room. She must be getting some tips that man They're up to some they're up to some no good stuff when they're in there supposedly cleaning your room So this reporter got a job as a um, room cleaner at a hotel Um, and was employed went to work did whole series of shifts for the purposes of finding out Hey what actually goes on in these rooms when they're meant to be clean them Do you want to know?
I worry because you do feel a bit vulnerable someone coming into your Into your little world on a daily basis and you often leave a few things that probably you don't you don't really want to Share everything crazy. You can't say that when they're not just like, uh, I guess you might forget that your wallet or passports You know deep in suitcase or yeah, the type of deodorant you use or if you know, you know, some ailment You know, crinkle. I don't know just I'm just When you know, I know what you're saying. Um, I just don't think about it too much I think I just because it's too scary like because you are very vulnerable.
So I think I've always just I'm just trying to think about like no, it's good. They're all professional no problems here But if you stop and think about it, yeah, who knows what they're doing. Well, we do know now um Now as I said it's in the UK does it apply here? Definitely yes in my opinion.
Um, it was premier in hotels the reporter posing as a cleaner She basically I went through the training stuff They tell the cleaners to use different cloths for the toilet the bath and the sink so three spots there use three different cloths Yes Um, but none of them do that apparently they just use the same cloth to clean the toilet then the sink then the bath I think I've seen video footage of this. Do they even uh, maybe use that same cloth to give the glasses? You know how they put glasses on the sink. Oh, okay.
I give that a bit of a wipe over as well. Maybe they do that sounds I'll just add that check a bit of fuel on the fire speculation we had Um, and she was even uh, basically I'm told by the other cleaners look if you get asked if you get pulled up on this just say you're using three separate cloths Even though you're not they just told her just lie about it because it saves so much time just to Go over it with the same cloth apparently and this is where the story takes a twist because That was really the only you know nasty little secret of the cleaners that got exposed the rest of the story is just uh A laundry list of the shocking working conditions. These poor cleaners have to work in um, this reporter again posing as a cleaner was told Um That she had to clean three rooms every 60 minutes 20 20 minutes for each room even if and it didn't matter what size of room was so you know a family room that was just Completely trashed. Mm-hmm still only 20 minutes.
Um now the um the way this the workday panned out for her She in the at the end of it the bottom line was she was getting paid Um less than eight dollars 80 cents per hour So they're under the pump but I told they have to meet all these you know cleaning quotas They told they have to come in an hour early to get there trolley ready Which is not paid for they don't have time to take their breaks She had to skip a break every day, but still had to market as though she'd taken it Um, so the it's not so much the cleaners undefined all of a sudden. It's the company that was employing them putting in all these like way unreasonable Yeah, we absolutely don't condone or we're a bit disgusted by the use of that cloth But you can see now why they're doing it. They're just rush rush rush. They gotta get it done.
So Yeah, it's a bad situation And as you said probably if they had better working conditions perhaps that would be a bit more Considerate of how they're cleaning a room that you're staying in so you know that flows through Would you pay a little bit more for your room if it meant that it could be a little bit more attention paid to the cleaning? Well, well if they use the blackmail like what else has been washed by the toilet now washed on something else the TV remote the cushion Yeah, it's a tricky one. No one really wants to pay for those sort of things, but Yeah, you need to give people enough time It's same as their truck driver issue that we often have here in Australia I believe a supermarket chain is faced several protests last year over conditions Just the fact that they want drivers to be Impossible in their timeframes and and that sees them rush or be dog pages don't seem fair Imagine if a hotel cleaners start dosing up on infedimines so they can you know Get through the cleaning a lot quicker and don't have to ever sleep and can work around the clock Yeah, they get through the rooms all right. I'm not sure how diligent and comprehensive that be Have you had any experiences yourself with cleaners web guy?
No, no stories at all. No one family member I know had a cleaner coming to the house on a weekly basis and just got a little bit suspicious and felt like perhaps This person had been going through their possessions So they pretty much told them they were no longer required. They didn't say you're sacked. Yeah fired They just said we're finishing up now and didn't confront them didn't confront them But I think there would have been a sense they knew something was up because she told her friends that we're also using the cleaner and It caused a chain reaction And my parents were staying in a hotel south of Adelaide probably a decade or so ago and have a feeling that someone took a wallet from their room So whether that was a cleaner or just someone who's Taking the opportunity to go through an open window or something and yeah And that's why I don't think I've ever been too suspicious of cleaners because if something is stolen out of your room I mean, it's just too obvious that it's them.
Isn't it like I just thought well They can't get away with it because they're gonna be the prime suspect if something goes missing anyway Interested here. Um, you're your um epic tailor when you went undercover. Yeah, really pales in comparison to that story There was no hidden cameras. There was no danger to my life.
Although I wanted whether There could be but basically I was following up on a report I did about a No longer sent a bus terminal so the trains and buses all sort of there's a hub there And there were reports of a lot of crime happening when I was working at the southern times messenger Which is a local community newspaper in Adelaide So what I decided to do was head down and basically spend a night I think it was probably from nine at night to about one in the morning Quick question. Did you wear it oversized cowboy hat with a camera installed? No, it was very if I thought about it I'm just thinking about it right now. I could have done it so much better But basically I just waited for crime to unfold in front of me and it didn't whereas possibly if I had it chat to a few other People there.
I think it was actually very quiet in in terms of passengers as well Going down on a weekday at that time there's very little you needed to provoke some some crime to happen like just Fane drunkenness or something and have your wallet be fumbling your wallet and actually drop it on the ground and holding it and then yeah No, it's bursting out of it. Yeah, and then wait for someone to come up in muggy and just leaving tins of spray paint just Yeah, thanks to a blank wall and caps off shaken ready to go. So that was my best attempt to come to cover It was poor but I've had a crack at it. We saw you We've got if you've seen any of my Twitter feed in the last six months You'll know that I like a look-alike for some reason I see a face and I think that looks like someone else And for some reason that really tickles my fancy But one that has grabbed world headlines occurred in the winter Olympics.
Tell us about it um Kim Jong-un pretty well known guy fairly well known one of the world's most famous madmen. Mm-hmm stink your face up. Yep And pretty young. Yeah, really he's not old Um, he would be maybe 40.
Yeah, that's a view around that mark. Um, and not a guy if you really want to get on the wrong side of no Um, he has been known to execute members of his own family Um, so if you're listening to the leader, um, no, we know we mean no disrespect But you are crazy and um a man who turned out to be an Australian guy named Howard Um, cause the big stir at the winter Olympics, um, because he was parading around looking like Kim Jong-un Um, and it was going okay. Um until some stuff went down and he was Pounced on by three pretty scary security guys and he was whisked away What about was it? I believe he was sort of dancing around with uh some North Korean cheerleading team that's been appointed there Yeah, so apparently I had to look into this apparently the winter Olympics, uh, a unified career Uh, country is competing.
Mm, which so I thought North Korean South Korea Korea hated each other. I thought they were like mortal enemies Well, it's it's funny because from my understanding it was just the ice hockey team. That was the big combination. Yeah, that's not so as well Yeah, so whether it's just a little toe in the water to get it But but I guess they're trying to respect each other in a big event which focuses on their part of the world Yeah But so these cheerleaders have been getting some coverage because I guess they're all from North Korea and they're all like in uniform and dancing in unison And you know just doing the crazy stuff that North Koreans said famous for Um, and so how would a k.a.
Kim Jong-un? um kind of got up in front of those guys Um, and I think if you're from sort of like nervously waved because you know, they must have known it wasn't actually Kim Jong-un But they must have immediately known this is dicey like of everyone they would know this is this is you're heading into Into some sus territory here. They got a bit nervous. It was going okay though.
Apparently until Um, the look-a-like the impersonator started waving a unified career flag And he reckons at the moment he started waving it. He denies he was dancing. He denies the dance accusation He reckons once he started waving the flag he was three guys jumped on him and took him away And I believe he had a chat with some of the the morning shows here in australia and Pretty much we you can tell immediately like like someone like that will become A cult hero whether it's just for a five minutes of fame, but we just love people poking fun and disrespecting authority in other countries really You'll probably be doing the next lamb ad yes for some reason. Um, he had a he made an interesting point though And he reckons he said this to the security guards who he said he thinks were North Korean and pretty big and he detained him But he the point he was trying to make to them was well, I mean, what are you gonna do?
Like I was born like this I just look like this. Yes. What have I done wrong exactly? I don't think they really care about the finer points of a legal argument No, I think and what he has done is you know, you have to say at least provocative like if you knew he knows he resembles Kim Jong-un and he's obviously deliberately dressed in a very similar way to Kim Jong-un So, you know, I personally probably if I happen to look like that and was in South Korea, I'd be getting pretty low profile Great here.
Don't don't get the shave side bit that you should that sort of mushroom look and that's all right The big heavy jacket. Yeah, just all adds to the adds to that It's an initiative like I mean to me it's a bit of fun But the thing is I'll probably in North Korea the fact that kj on and that's what I'm gonna call him because we're kj He's images everywhere and he's put right up on a pedestal as well for us to see he's put up on a pedestal as a hero So there's probably heaps of dudes getting around with the thick glasses and that that haircut because they want to Wouldn't you aspire to look like him if he was your the main man in your country? Well, it's not just in North Korea as well. We have mentioned before that every AFL player in the league has the Kim Jong-un haircut His haircut has gone around the world.
Yeah, that's it. I'll have a Kim I have a Kim Jong-un. Please. That's what people say when they go into the night.
Shave to up to the side a bit longer on top Web guy. Can you think of any other impersonators or people doing similar things that have got themselves into hot water or just things that have Immused you with those type of scenarios chase a guy pretended to dress up as someone who was jacis the ABC Grief that sort of go around pushing the boundaries in political circles. Yeah He dressed up either as a summer bin lad or someone who pretty closely was a zombie lad and Ran alongside of car into a really important like a G 20 something like that and whole of Sydney was locked down And something I just showed that he could get in and yeah, I only got but he got full blown arrested by taking the custody man handled How are you any memories? Oh, there was a TV show where a guy that looked very much like Prince Harry Was an American TV show and it was like data prints.
So these poor unsuspecting Knive women from America thought they were actually dating Prince Harry for the chance to I guess join royalty I can't remember how it finished though, but yeah, the fun was just seeing people think they were dating someone important So yeah, I think I know how finish they just did surprise but I mean yeah, that Prince Harry had American accent probably should have been Yeah, that's it and luckily nowhere near on the same scale, but there was a young fellow that pretended to be a sky TV news reporter I got away with a whole lot of things interviewed cane corns of really things like that I don't think he actually caused any real problems except for wasting people's time and being a bit of a fool So he's just trying to get a foot in the industry. Yeah, actually it was me. No Yeah, no, I think he just enjoyed the profile of having I think put a sticker on his car That's kind of I've never heard this story I think you put a sticker on his car and I guess he felt good getting around with the camera and I need to be found that no interviews went to anywhere except for his BBD player and there was another guy fella that impersonated a doctor I think it was at the R.A.H. and was getting around doing the rounds and checking clipboards and things like that That's not as funny.
No, don't think he offered any advice or did any surgery But no one really wants a stranger coming in and just checking out your medical ready It's part of that thing where if you're just confident enough you can get away with anything
