40% of Black and Latino adults have been targeted by a scam; AARP identifies the main types

from North American Network

Recent studies from “A-A-R-P” show that 40-percent of Black and Latino adults, nationwide, have been targeted by a scam—while 20-percent have lost money because of one. What’s more, nearly 60-percent of those who’ve lost money to a scam have done so more than once. Charles Williams is a volunteer-member of “A-A-R-P Kentucky’s” executive-council… “Both communities are most-often targeted by government-impostor scams. Also, both are frequently targeted for fake ‘work from home’-offers, fake job-postings, and lottery-scams. Plus, we found significant mentions of scams involving ‘COVID-19’-stimulus—along with scams that relate to romance, utilities, or grandparents. And, we learned that older Latino adults are less likely to report a scam after they experience one. Becoming a victim can leave people feeling helpless, but there are things [that] they can do: Our trained, volunteer fraud-specialists—at the ‘A-A-R-P Fraud-Watch Network’—can help both victims and their families navigate what to do, in the wake of a scam.” To learn more, visit “a-a-r-p”-dot-org-slash-“fraud-watch-network”—or call 1-877-908-3360.
