406 - Steve Forbert

Steve Forbert is one of the greats in American music. Acclaimed as a prolific songwriter, he is equally known for his singing. Bob Harris of BBC2 said of Forbert that he has "one of the most distinctive voices anywhere." His song "Romeo's Tune," from his second album was an international hit, but Steve Forbert has not stopped.

He visited The Paul Leslie Hour to discuss his 21st studio album "Early Morning Rain" on Blue Rose Music. This time Forbert interpreted songs he didn't write. This album is a stunning collection of Steve's masterful interpretations of classic songs everything from a traditional song, to a Gordon Lightfoot classic, as well as songs from Elton John, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. The first single from the album is a cover of Danny O'Keefe's "Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues." In fact, Danny O'Keefe joined us in the middle of this interview to discuss the song and Steve's interpretation. Along with the interview some excerpts from the album are presented for your listening pleasure.

The Paul McGregor Podcast Paul McGregor On the 4th March 2009, my life changed forever. My Dad, the man I looked up too, the man who in my eyes had 'everything' on paper took his own life. After it happened I struggled to deal with the grief, I buried the pain and found myself asking the question 'why' over and over again. I too then found myself struggling with depression and anxiety. This Podcast is all about documenting not only my own personal journey to discovering more about mental health and suicide, but to also document other stories too. It's time to talk about mental health, it's time to give it the voice it deserves and hopefully this Podcast can provide that. Hopefully this Podcast helps show others that they're not alone...Paul McGregor is an author, lecturer, a mental health advocate, husband, Father of 2 and avid Liverpool supporter. He shares daily content, giving mental health a voice across multiple social platforms and through speaking and workshops across the UK.<p style='color:grey; THE PAUL HALME AUDIO ADVENTURE Paul Halme Business, Fitness and Fun!
