Another week back to school and we feel all kinds of grateful for the amazing teachers in our lives who literally make learning happen for our kiddos every single day.  Teachers, we’re here to say that we see you, we love you, and we appreciate you!  That’s why today we’re answering questions from you dear listeners about how teachers can modify their classrooms, advocate for all of their students, and become lifelong learners in the process!  Because let’s face it, we ALL have some learning to do, we ALL have some listening to do, and we ALL have some believing-the-best-in-every-student to do!  It’s time to partner with teachers to counter a system that is not in place to support our kiddos with different abilities so we can watch our kids (and their peers!) grow! So friends, join us for a chat about some of the most important adults in our kids' lives, all the ways you can partner with your child’s teacher, and what Heather wishes she knew when she was an educator.  Oh, and we may or may not have a special live event announcement coming your way soon, stay tuned! __ SHOW LINKS Stay tuned for a super special live event announcement from us! The Secret of Kite Hill Bradley Charbonneau Do you know every nook and cranny of your neighborhood? How about UNDER your neighborhood?Do you let your kids walk home from school? It's just a few blocks, right? What lurks in the shadows? In the bushes? Or scarier yet, under the bushes? Or is it all just happy-go-lucky Huckleberry Finn and exploring and adventuring in your own neighborhood? When do you know the difference? Maybe your kids know. Maybe they don't. How will you learn? It began as a simple walk home, the same one we did every day after school. But our dog's ball went into something of a hole, or was it a cave? Maybe a tunnel. But are there tunnels in the city? The ball was pretty close to the entrance, but just far enough to be a little spooky. Should we just forget it? WARNING TO PARENTS: there are some questionable parenting decisions in this book. It is not intended as a parenting handbook. There's a fine line between making the right decision and making the fun decision. When to choose which? How much do yo DCOM and Drink Gloria Smith and Austin Helmers Hello Friends! Welcome to DCOM and Drink! Common Ground: Stories from America's Vintage Movie Theaters Gary Hardcastle In 2016, I started driving two-lane roads through small towns all over the United States, looking for vintage movie theaters: movie theaters with just one or two screens, usually built somewhere between 1920 and 1960, and usually in dusty downtowns or rundown suburbs.Eight years later, I’ve documented over two hundred such movie theaters. Some thriving, some abandoned, most just hanging in there. I stop, I take a few pictures, and, if I’m lucky, I hear a story from someone about what that theater means to them, and what that theater means to their town.Join me as I visit eight vintage American movie theaters and share their stories—stories about everything from childhood matinees and bad dates, to cult movies and concession stands.
