41 - Decompression

Toni and Emily bring back Sara from the traveling episode to talk about the importance of decompression for dogs! Sara shares her experience with decompression and how instrumental it was to her dog's relationship with herself and her father and fiance. Decompression is not just for rescue dogs; it is also essential for new puppies or dogs that have experienced trauma. Decompression allows for healing, growth, and, most importantly, confidence in and with their handler.   Sara shares her experience with Mylo and how he went from being a scared and nervous dog to outgoing, adventurous, and friendly with strangers. Toni and Emily have similar experiences with their animals and briefly touch on how hard it can be to give your dog space and time to adjust and find comfort. As dog lovers, we all want to hug and kiss our animals, but sometimes that sends the wrong message.  Like humans, dogs deal with and handle stress differently. We always have to remember that they are animals, and they see the world differently than we do.
