Sport Med.Royal Victoria Regional Health Care Centre, Dept of SurgeryDr. Bauman has been recently awarded the Minister’s Medal Honour Roll by the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care for her work in Concussion Care.Dr. Bauman has presented research on “Gender Differences and Persistent symptoms in Sport Related Concussions” in Berlin, Germany, Washington, DC, and Victoria, BC. Her work has been featured in Health Magazine, NY Magazine, Sports Illustrated, and on CBC News. Dr. Bauman is the Medical Director, founder of Concussion North-- a Physician-led inter-disciplinary team-based clinic specializing in sports injuries and sports-related concussions in Barrie, ON. She is a member of the Parachute Canada Expert Committee on Concussions with the Federal Government. She is working with the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation on Provincial Guidelines for Adults with persistent symptoms of mTBI and Practice Concussion Standards. Currently, she is a Medical Advisor for Concussions to the NCAA- US Dept. of Defence SmartTeams via Mom’sTEAM, Canadian Concussion Collaborative, Scientific Advisor to Pink Concussions, Ontario Minor Hockey Association, and the Simcoe County District School Board. Dr. Bauman graduated from medical school at McMaster University, and completed a specialty in Family Medicine from Queen’s University. She returned to McMaster to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine. She has hospital privileges with the Royal Victoria Hospital (Barrie, ON) and is on faculty with the University of Toronto Dept. of Family Medicine. Dr. Bauman has been caring for athletes of all levels for the last 10 years, from recreational "weekend warriors" to professional and national level competitors.
