Richard Kelly's SOUTHLAND TALES is a soup of genre in service of a satirical take on post 9-11 America and its increasingly (to a ludicrous degree) conservative outlook. It follows an amnesiac actor (Dwayne Johnson) hunting for "the truth" through his new screenplay, a racist cop searching for his long-lost twin brother (Seann William Scott), a multi-hyphenate mogul hoping to influence substantive societal change through her ventures in porn, music and reality TV (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and the inevitable end of the world as we know it. Oh, and Justin Timberlake plays the scarred soldier narrating the whole thing.
