On September 3, 1952, 28-year-old Mahmoud Hussein Mattan was executed at Cardiff Prison for the murder of 41-year-old Lily Volpert. 46 years later, after a battle waged by Mahmoud’s family, he was officially exonerated as having been responsible for Lily’s death.
