Not only does cravings not just deal in food, but habits are more than brushing your teeth twice a day.   A CRAVING is a powerful desire for something. And it does not have to be related to food. A HABIT is a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. Can a craving be hard to give up; is a habit powerful enough for you to continue to do it?  YES! YES!! YES!!! Both are controlled actions, reactions and responses by the mind. It's a pattern (a loop) that puts much of what we do on autopilot.  Are you living your life on autopilot? Charles Duhigg, a Pulitzer prize winning reporter, author of The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business and spent over 120 weeks on the NYT Best Sellers List. First off, habit is a formula the brain automatically follows. Habit = craving/action/routine + reward + trigger How long does it take for a new habit to be formed? As long or as short for YOU!! It is all dependent on YOU! It's not a magic day of 21 days, 30 days, 2 hours. It's how you take the change, implement the plan and put in the energy and effort needed to rewire the habit. The K.I.S.S. ~ Rewire Your Habits! Identify the craving/action that driving the routine. Understand the reward achieved/gained. Discover the trigger; the pattern. location time emotions person/people action preceding the trigger Set the plan! Would love to hear what you are working on.
