417 – Firefly -Serenity

from Fusion Patrol · host Lone Locust Productions

Time to start a new series here on Fusion Patrol.  Simon and Eugene begin a run through of Joss Whedon’s cult series, Firefly. Note, viewing order will be more DVD order than Fox airing order.  We begin with the intended pilot, Serenity. Episode Synopsis:  A group of soldier are pinned down in Serenity Valley, all looks lost, but one soldier, Mal and his sidekick Zoe stage what looks like a good effort to save the day, but fail. [expand title=”Click to see the rest of post”] Six years later, they’re working criminal salvage operations for the syndicate.  When a deal goes bad, they have to find a new, more risky place to unload their hot property.  To help pay the bills, they also take on passengers – A preacher, a surgeon and an undercover cop (although they don’t know that.) Drama unfolds as it is reveled that the cop is not after them, but after the surgeon and the precious thing he stole – his sister, a brilliant child that has had awful things done to her by the Alliance. Trying to unload the hot merchandise results in an ambush, which they successfully outmaneuver as well as escaping from the Reavers, really nasty frontier wild men and they kill the cop.  The preacher, the surgeon and his sister stay onboard for a while.
