417. Nova Scotia says offshore wind could provide 27% of Canada’s electricity
from Green Energy Futures · host David Dodge
VIDEO - Nova Scotia is bullish on offshore wind power. They just offered leases for the development of 5 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity. That's twice the annual electricity consumption in Nova Scotia. And they have already identified suitable areas for up to 60 gigawatts of offshore wind development. That's enough to provide 27% of Canada's electricity. Surprisingly, these will be the first offshore wind projects in Canada, even though the technology is widely used in China, the UK, the US, and other countries. We talk to Elisa Obermann, executive director of Marine Renewables Canada, who says Premier Tim Houston is a big advocate for the development, which he describes as nation-building.🟢 GreenEnergyFutures.ca CKUA.com VIDEO Podcast❤️ Subscribe Today - We have more than 400 episodes!✅ BLOG - GreenEnergyFutures.ca✅ PODCAST - https://open.spotify.com/show/1IFLWH0wmCBwpEF7BQv7FA?si=7b384d7e63c0493c✅ SUPPORT OUR WORK - Buy Me a Coffee - https://buymeacoffee.com/greenfuturesGreen Energy Futures is a passion project.
