42 - Anxiety Round Table Discussion [Mental Health Awareness May]

from The Seacoast Podcast: Things You Won't Hear On Sunday

For the month of May, we'll be discussing all things mental health related.  Although the stigma of mental illness is dwindling some, there is still work to be done.  For those who suffer, you are not alone.  Our prayer is that you find comfort by hearing these stories and discussions, even if it's just a little bit.  For those who do not struggle, our  prayer is that through these episodes, you will have more understanding; and this would lead you to more compassion and grace for all who do.Episode 3: For many, anxiety is merely a synonym for "worry," while for others, it's a physical condition and unfortunately a lived experience.  Jeff Leinberger, Campus Pastor of our West Ashley Church Campus, Amy Alderman, long-time elder at Seacoast and Joey Svendsen discuss their personal journeys working through anxiety.  From panic attacks and embarrassing "anxiety stories" to how each process the infamous "don't be anxious about anything" verse in Philippians 4, the three discuss how they have coped with anxiety, the effects of it on their day-to-day, and what they believe to be the cause. At the top of the episode, Lynne Stroy shares with Pastors Roy Jacques and Joey Svendsen a dark season in her life that included the loss of her brother and a boyfriend struggling  with mental illness.  Sandwiched between these two conversations, Chip Judd, pastor and licensed therapist, gives helpful considerations when trying to find a good therapist.   Stay ConnectedWebsite | Facebook Discussion Page  In this episodeJeff Leinberger / Instagram Amy Alderman / Facebook Joey Svendsen, co-host / InstagramLynne Stroy, co-host/ InstagramRoy Jacques, co-host / FacebookPaul Francisco, narrator / Instagram Chip Judd / Instagram Executive Producer: Josh SurrattProducer/Editor: Joey SvendsenSound Engineer/Editor: JT PriceSound Engineer: Gabe DewalkSpecial Music: Robbie Madison"The Way That You Love"  / Spotify / AppleMusic, theme song: Joel T.
