Sam talks to meditation teacher and philosopher Alex Ferguson about how living through the New Zealand earthquakes brought him to mindfulness and how the mosque shootings brought up new questions from his students—like what do we do about Nazis. And throughout the episode we explore how mindfulness doesn't always make you a better person, sometimes it can make you a bigger jerk, a mindful douche, a self-help grifter.
