42 New Teachers Welcome in Warren County | Washington DC News
from Washington DC News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Warren County Public Schools welcomed 42 new teachers with a vibrant kickoff event, where Superintendent Dr. Troy Wright praised their impact and urged them to embrace both their careers and the community—especially since he’s new to the area himself. He highlighted how students absorb more than lesson plans, learning from how teachers handle stress and inspire. The orientation, led by Hope Petty, was hailed as the best he’s ever seen. The new hires come from all paths—some from local programs, others career switchers, and even a returning biology teacher, Kim Harrison, who’s back at her alma mater after 24 years. Peyton Hensley, a recent grad from a local teacher prep program, is thrilled to begin her teaching journey after five years as a teaching assistant. Meanwhile, the district is bringing substitute management back in-house, hiring 140 substitutes to save money. The school year officially begins Wednesday, August 12—and Superintendent Wright is ready to be there for the start.
