Luego de matar a sus propios abuelos teniendo solo 15 años de edad, Ed Kemper pasó los siguientes 6 años de su vida en la Unidad Psiquiátrica del Hospital de Atascadero, de donde salió bajo libertad condicional al cumplir 21. Solo 3 años después, en 1972, aún bajo la sombra de su madre y con todo el tiempo del mundo luego de incapacitarse por un accidente automovilístico, Kemper comenzó a armarse y pensar como conseguir a sus victimas, matando a dos jóvenes universitarias luego de meses de preparación.
